Question about Garmin GPSMAP 178C Sounder GPS Receiver
My Garmin GPSMAP 178C screen back light just failed. Have only used it about a dozen times. It has not been impacted, dropped, submerged or damaged in any way. FYI: It is almost impossible to get through to Garmin about this.
Backlight problem: Remove the display, remove the light tube from behind the LCD. Buy a led panel from Ebay for around $5 and install it behind the LCD under the drfusing layers. Run the wires out to a 12 VDC source and there you have it.
