You want to disable "Automatic Reboot" on system failure. This option can be found in "Control Panel"-->"System"-->"Advanced System Settings"-->"Startup & Recovery" "Settings" button.

This will let you see the Blue Screen error and find the file that is causing you problems. When you find the file, Google it and read up. You should be able to find easy fixes to it.

But to get into Windows you will need to boot into "Safe Mode". You do this by pressing F8 repetitively after the BIOS screens...when Windows is loading. If you hit F8 at the correct time, you will be greeted with a black screen with white lettering and a few options.

While you are at it, do a virus/malware scan using the free program at http://www.malwarebytes.org

Hope this helps.

The blue screen was caused by corrupted drivers or a virus that was corrupting the drivers. Have you tried starting the machine in SAFE mode? To do this press F8 while the computer is starting before Windows loads. You should get a menu with several SAFE mode choices. Select SAFE mode and continue. If the computer works fine at this point, I suggest downloading the following AVGFREE.exe, MALWAREBYTES.exe and SUPERANTISPYWARE.exe. Run these to absolutely eliminate any chance of a virus. Once done go to START, Run and type SFC/scannow. You’ll need to have your original CD’s handy. This will replace any corrupt drivers. Now, what to do if you can’t get into SAFE mode. The question then is anything showing on the screen? If nothing but you can hear the fans but no beep codes I suggest you take the laptop to a reputable repair person or check my website www.micromendllc.com. Good luck.

Try starting in Safe Mode and see if the problem occurs.
To start in Safe Mode, hold down the Shift key after you hear the startup chime. Startup will take a bit longer than usual, and you should see the words "Safe Mode" in red lettering at the login screen.

Blue Screen of Death during startup

When you get the BSOD - it gives a brief description of what the error is - this should lead you in the proper direction for finding the culprit - is the computer a new configuration - is it an old system that just started doing this? Have you made any change? All these things have to be considered and evaluated.

Maybe driver related. Do you get a blue screen or it just shuts down instantly? Try installing the latest drivers for your video card.
