I changed the black ink cartridge when it was empty. Now, no matter how many times I remove the new cartridge and re-install it, the message "ink empty black will not reset. My e-mail is MDLTC@aol.com

My Brother MFC-665CW Printer is giving the error "No Cartridge BLACK"
There is a new Generic black ink cartridge installed.

-   I have the same problem...
I did manage to get it reset once to read near empty and the printer at least worked. (got into the maintenance mode {hold the set button down, and unplug the printer ac cord, then plug it back in} and type in 77 (prints the printer log, which came out in blue ink at that time, then tried the maintenance cleaning menu 76, and I got the print out in black ink now, and when i returned from maintenance mode {key in 99} the printer now set near empty and was now unuseable.)

Then I made the mistake and called Brothers support to see if I could get the printer to at least acknowledge that these were new ink cartridges (I had foolishly bought a complete set of cartridges thinking that my old non-empty cartridges were the reasons for the error) and we ended up trying a print cleaning, which work, but the tech thought that the maintenance cleaning mode uses tons of ink and he suggested that now my cartridges were truly close to be empty. I doubted that very much, but to humor him I open up the cover and remove each cartridge and yes there was consumption but they were all over 3/4 full. Unfortunately once I replace the cartridges I ended up back with the same initial error, No cartridges !!!! and can't for the life of me get it back to a near empty ink message again.

Any one have any ideas?-   dgagnon

it's a shame there's no fix for this when it seems so common. i'm having this same problem...only the black ink says it's empy. i had the printer for two months and used it mostly for faxing and scanning but did maybe 20 pages of text printing. i turned it on one day to see black and yellow empty so i wasted my money on their cartridges only to have this constantly 'empty' black ink issue.

I put a new black cartridge in my printer, now there is a message saying: install black cartridge. It won't re-set, I can't print anything.

I have the same problem replaced black ink with new one and still saying " Ink Empty Black"

Get any solution to this yet? Mine has the same problem. Black ink cartridge is full but still won't print. It used to always say it was empty until the last time I tried changing it. Now at least it says it's full, but does not print any black ink. Tried cleaning heads several times.
