Try new cables. Make sure the video cable plug is fully seated in both the DVD player and TV's jack. If you are using S-video, check for any damaged pins on the cable ends.

I hope this helps.

Make sure your cables are in right spot on both..

DVD player (if using the composite cables yellow white red)

on DVD makes sure it says Video OUT and color match

TV look at the back and dont just plug in cuz you see colors. look at rear.

On Back where they are at should say Video 1 2 3 whichever one has the red yellow white cables and say Video IN. match colors then try. should work.

If you are sure your cables are tight and not defective, then your main board is defective or your signal source is defective.

Alba dvd/tv combo playing dvd's in black and white

There are a couple of things you could try with this. One, is to make sure that the video input is connected properly. The second would be to make sure that the DVD that played in black and white automatically changed your settings to PAL rather than NTSC

The dvd player only plays dvds in balck and white, It will not play in color

check the colour system on your dvd, it should be on auto mode, likewise, on tv, it should be on auto mode, not on ntsc, or pal, bg, bk, dk system, change to auto \, also check your connection for video signal, if it is connected to right point..if the problem continues, then the board on ur dvd, needs to be changed..check out

Make sure that your external devices are PAL. If they are sending out the NTSC standard, the picture will be there without color as you are seeing.

Make sure that you connect all of these connections to the right colored cables.

It seems like you only have the green cable connected. Go back and connect the red and blue for both the tv and dvd.
