SOURCE: buttonhole on second side was only half the length of first side

Hi, did you buy the machine from a dealer - if so, I would take it back and ask them to show you how to do buttonholes again. It is also possible that, although the test buttonholes sewed out correctly, the automatic button sensor needs professional adjustment.

Before going back to the dealer, find the section in your manual that discusses buttonholes and read thru it very carefully. Pfaff machines are not intuitive, and the manual might describe a way to adjust the automatic buttonhole settings so they sew out correctly.

If you need more help, please repost and I'll try to help or put you in touch with a dealer who can help

Good luck, Ginny

SOURCE: Does the Pfaff 7550 run on electrics here and other places?

Somewhere on the machine, usually the bottom, there is a switch to change the voltage settings of the machine. Please check that and your users manual for clarification.

Pfaff 2170 will not make consistently sized buttonholes

Go to the following site regarding timing your machine. Are you placing a button in the buttonhole foot so the machine "knows" how long to make the buttonhole? If you have a button stop lever to the left of your needle bar, are you pulling it down and putting it in FRONT of the button stop so it can complete the rotation?

How do I put the buttonhole attachment on my pfaff 7570 I can't get the attachment - don't know how

The part with the metal that has the little holes in it will slide in from the back just under the stich plate. Push that all the way in and it will spring out about a mm. And the other part is just the presser foot, put in on just like a normal foot.
hope this helps

Hole width

After putting on the buttonhole foot, you lower the foot, put in the size button you want into the button hole foot. Lower the button hole lever all the way (so machine does not blip) Then the machine automatically sets the length and width of the button hole...you can adjust the length and width manually by pushing the button on the top right hand part of the machine above the LED screen the top one is stich length the other is stich width....if you put the levers to the left it will be the smallest stich length or width...if to the right it will be the largest stich length or width the machine allows. But, really the machine automatically does this for you...so I don't see the need to do it.....but you can....BBill01

Machine made buttonholes.

Here ya go! For 1 Step Automatic Buttonholes: 1. Place button into the buttonhole attachment. 2. Push slider to hold button securely in the slot. The button goes to the back! 3. Put button foot onto needle bar--just attach it securely. 4. Place needle thread and bobbin thread UNDER buttonhole attachment and let 4"-5" of thread trail behind it. 5. There's a lever called a Button Stop to the left of the needle bar. Give it a gentle tug and pull it down. Pull forward. Hear a click? Now the machine knows what length to STOP sewing! 6. Put foot on pedal and machine will sew barrack closest to you first. It will continue all around until it makes complete rotation of each side. 7. You must do these steps for each of your buttonholes! IMPORTANT: Make sure you set your dial for making buttonhole pattern because that "tells" machine to zig zag, and use appropriate size needle for the particular weight of your fabric. A new needle before you begin is recommended. Turn screw on needlebar to loosen screw. Hold it so it does not slip down into the feed dog area! New needle is inserted flat shank toward back of needlebar as far as it will go. Tighten screw. Did this help? Hope so!

Button holes

Hi

Are you using a Pfaff 7570 (or other Pfaff machine with Sensor)? If so, definitely use the sliding buttonhole foot and the sensor guide (slides below the needle plate from the back of the machine. This will keep your buttonholes consistent.

The size is regulated by the Stitch/Pattern Length button and Width button. Select the size you think you'll need (in millimeters).

Test sew your buttonhole on the EXACT same combination of fabric/layers & stabilizer that your garment is. Adjust the length/width of buttonhole if needed. I would recommend a bit wider buttonhole due to the thickness/puffiness of the fleece.

Hope this helps,
Kim

Buttonhole problem

Hi,
When doing the button hole....after installing the button hole foot and lowering the foot....and adding the button so the automatic button hole size is determined...you lower the button hole lever it will touch the back of the button hole foot. this holds the button hole foot in the proper position...if this lever is not all the way down...the machine blips at you...check to see that it is down all the way...I hope this helps you..It truly does all that it advertises and is a great machine...BBill01
P.S. you can adjust width and length of the stich also...see instruction manual. pg 28-30
