Question about Hotpoint (HSM25IFTSA) Side by Side Refrigerator

My freezer side in the hotpoint side by side refridgerator was not cooling and when I pulled the rear panel in the freezer the cooling tubes were covered in ice. I defrosted them and it worked fine but is already building up ice again just 2 days

You have a defrost issue. You can check the defrost circuit by pulling the panal on back of fridg. Pull the back cover, look at bottom left for a three wire plug. Unplug refridgerator. Strip the ends of a jumperwire and jump the terminals l1 to defrost as lettered on the board. Plug in fridge and watch as defrost element thaws coils. If this is the case then you will need to replace the fridge's control board. Rock On!!

Freezer on my Hotpoint HSM25GFTSA is cold but refridgerator part is not cooling at all.

Hi,
I'm Leo
This is a common defrost problem, The ice
is not being melted by the defrost system. he fan can't blow into ref.
Take out back panel of freezer to check for ice buildup. The coils should be clean.
There are three components to a defrost system- a heater, heater thermostat, and a timer unless you have a defrost electronic card.
Its best handled by a Technician but you could possibly do it by taking your model number to the nearest appliance parts store and asking for the parts. They are mostly located in freezer ,behind back panel on freezer coils.except the card which is usually located in ref The parts store will have info
Also check evaporator fan in freezer
Also check fan undernearh Ref in the rear
Clean condenser coils underneath

Won't freeze on freezer side ( defrosting) and won't get cold on refridgerator side

If you have confirmed that the unit is defrosting and the freezer isn't getting cold. Make sure underneath the refrigerator is completely clean and the fan is running underneath the refrigerator next to the coils. If this all checks out then you have a bad compressor or lost of refrigerant due to a leak in the system. One last thing: Is the cooling fan running in the freezer?

Refridgerator not cooling enough, freezer working fine.

The profile uses the mother board to signal defrost. Most times the defrost heater is the problem. If your refrigerator is not defrosting it will cause ice to build up on the evaporator coil behind the rear panel of the freezer. If this is happening the rear panel will show a layer of frost building up on that rear panel. If you see this then unplug remove the rear panel and defrost with a hair dryer until you can have a look at the defrost heater located at the bottom of the evaporator coils. On your model the defrost heater is surrounded by a glass tube and will be easy to spot if burned out. Let me know what you find, Sea Breeze

Refrigerator side not cooling

The fresh food section is cooled by the freezer section by forced air supplied by a fan. If you have air flow, check the temp inside the freezer. It should be between 0 and -10. If not look inside your freezer and see if you have ice built up on the back panel. If so you have a defrost problem that is most likely a bad defrost heater, a bad termination thermostat or timer. If ther is no ice then check your fan under the refrig. If you can hear the compressor running it should be turning. If this all checks out then you have a freon system problem like. Low Freon pressure or a restriction.

Fridge not holding tempreture

if there is frost present on the rear vertical wall of the freezer compartment then the defrost function is broken and needs to be repaired the freezer is like an ice block and yo get cooling up to the refridgerator compartment air has to be able to flow and that can't happen if the frost is not eliminated
