Buzzing noise on Samsung HL-R5667W DLP

I started getting this loud buzzing noise last night and the picture is a little distorted and the colors are a litte off. According to Samsung's website it should be the fans or the color wheel. Do you think it would the the color wheel and if so, is it a pretty easy fix?

I have the same problem, we took the back cover off to see if we could pin point more where the sound was coming from, but the humming is so loud we can't tell.

You have a noisey color wheel. It is a little tricky to replace but not too bad. Also, there are several different versions of these for different models so be sure you use complete model number from sticker on side of set. Must remove light engine and will need extra long philips screwdriver (magnetic). That is to get color wheel cover off/on. When switching ribbon cable, notice it only has contacts on one side so make sure to put new one in same way. Good luck, Russmann.

First. The whirring or buzzing sound you hear is the Color Wheel and it needs to be replaced. Second, since I do not know when and if the original lamp has been replaced it is a good idea to replaced the lamp. The bad Color Wheel is the one causing the set to shut down.

After much research, it became apparent that the most logical culprit after the lamp was the color wheel. It has been replaced and the set is working again.

I just responded to your other post check the connection between the lamp and ballast at both ends. Also did you get the same exact lamp as your old lamp, as Samsung has two different arc gaps and they wont work if you get the other type even though they look the same physically.
