Question about Kenmore 24032\24036 Top Load Washer

1 Answer

The washing machine filled with water on the wash cycle. Now it won't drain or go into the spin cycle. No matter what setting you turn the dial, it won't do anything. I wonder if it is the timer or microcomputer? Help!

I still need to work on it. But I appreciate the suggestions, I believe possibly the belt may be broken. Thanks again.

I took the back off of the washing machine. It is a direct drive unit so there is not a belt on it. This is the kenmore series 80. Still at a loss for what might be the problem. Thanks!

Hi, a washing machine won't spin if the water can't drain. Check hoses for any kinks or clogs that may prevent the water from draining. If a hose has kinks, try to straighten out the kinked hose. If it can't be straighten sufficiently, replace the hose. If hoses are not kinked, check for clogged hoses. This can be done by using the screwdrivers to remove the hoses and looking for clogs or running a water hose through the clogged hose to remove the clog. Use the rags and bucket to clean up the water that comes out of the hoses when they are disconnected. Once the clog is learned, put the drain hose back into place. The washerThe washing machine filled with - mag-glass_10x10.gif should drain and spin now if a clogged or kinked hose was the problem.

Take care

I really don't think the hose is kinked or plugged. My granddaughter said she opened the washing machine to get her swimming suit out. After that it wouldn't resume washing. It just won't do anything. It does have power to it but that is it. Thanks for your help.

Hi, loose or broken belts could also prevent a washing machine from draining or spinning. Pull the washer away from the wall and, using the screwdrivers and wrenches, remove the back panel. Using the flashlight, visually check for any broken or loose belts. Replace any broken or loose belts. Although replacing washing machine belts is difficult, anyone who has replaced belts on a car, lawn mower or even a bicycle chain should be able to accomplish the task.

    Take care

Washer will not cycle

The cycle doesn't advance When the cycle doesn't advance, it's probably the timer or a cold-water supply problem:

  • It's the timer, if your washing machine fills with water and begins agitating, but the timer never advances--or if the washer is in a spin cycle and the timer won't advance. Then you need to replace the timer.

  • It may be a cold-water supply problem, if the washing machine fills with water, agitates, drains, and spins, but then doesn't fill with rinse water. See There's no cold water.

Washer fills with water but doesn't begin to agitate to wash. It also drains but doesn't spin when we set the dial to that

Your agitator pindle. has come loose From the spline. Try to lift up on the agitator. If it lifts off the spindle easily then it has worn out the spline. That is what connects the agitator to the s

Washer stopped at the drain cycle Model LSR8233JQ1

Could be either a bad lid switch or a bad water valve.
Set the timer dial to SPIN and turn the machine on.
If it spins the lid switch is OK. If it does not spin the lid switch must be replaced.
Next, set the timer dial on a wash cycle and set the water temperature knob to COLD water. If it fills, the lid switch is bad. If it does not fill the water valve is bad or the cold screen filter is clogged.
If the COLD does not fill, turn off the cold water faucet. Remove the cold water hose from the machine water valve and check for a clooged screen.
If it does not fill with COLD water and the screen is clear, replace the water valve.

Kenmore front-load washer stops at rinse cycle

When the washer initially fills for the wash, is it only hot water entering the drum? Try switching the water temperature between hot and cold as it fills. If any of them show little or no water getting through, it sounds too easy but check to make sure water supply taps are on, and that the cold/hot fill hoses aren't reversed. Remove the fill hoses and check any of the screen filters for blockage (in the hoses and in the inlet water valve). When the machine stops and waits to fill but all you hear is a hum, it sounds like there is power going to the valve but water is not able to get through it.
Good luck!
