Is this a portable hard drive? If so try a different pc. Sounds like they have been deleted though as a corrupt drive would not keep all of the folders and file names while only loosing the contents of those folders. If this is the case, sorry.

Please rate this solution if it has helped you.
Thanks, Gary

I would copy all of the pics onto the pc that can read the files and reformat the portable drive. Copy all of the pics back onto the portable drive after reformat and see if they are now readable with the new laptop. If you need detailed instructions on how to reformat the portable drive please post back.
    Thanks, Gary

How do I download pictures from my gallery to my desktop pc

I assume you are working with an Android based Smartphone or Tablet.

Connect the device with your Micro USB (charging) cable to the USB port on your desktop.

Once connected on your device there will likely be a pop up asking use USB for. select MTP (media transfer protocol). This will allow you to access your phones Internal memory and SD card through your file explorer on your desktop.

Your phone should appear in the list of storage devices under This PC on the left had side in file explorer. Click on your phone it will open with possibly two folders. Labeled Phone and SD card, depending on where your photos are stored open these folders and look for the folder labeled DCIM. This folder will contain all your photos and videos taken with your camera.

The other folders you may want to check are Downloads, Pictures and Videos. These will contain any images or videos downloaded from the internet or e-mail attachments saved.

Find the files you want from these folders and drag them to a new folder on your computer.

My DMC-TZ3 always stores images in haphazard order, not the exact order in which they were taken. Why? And how can I make it store images in chronological order please?

This is from the manual: "File numbers are reset when new folders are created." "New folders are created in the following cases: 1. When pictures are taken to folders containing files numbered 999. 2. When using cards already containing the same folder number (including pictures taken other cameras, etc.) 3. When recording after performing a 'NO. RESET' (found in the setup menu).

Transfering photos from my laptop to the frame.

If you can see the photo frame connection in your pc, you should be able to copy the pictures and paste them in the photo frame's folder.

If you already have some photos in the photo frame, look for the containing folder in the photo frame's drive. Save the new pictures in the same folder.

Note: You should be aware that the pictures should be in jpg format. Some photo frames do not accept png and gif formats.

If thats the case, go to "Paint" program in your notebook.
Open the file then save it again using "Save As" to "jpg" format.
Recopy the pictures and paste them in the photo frames folder.

Make sure the image file is in JPG format, or the player won't be able to read it.

For users running Windows XP with Service Pack 1 and above:
With your device connected to your computer, click on My Computer and then click on the icon for your device. If you see a folder labeled DATA, you must copy the photo files you want to view directly into this folder. Folders containing photos cannot be copied to the DATA folder. Photo files must be copied directly to the DATA folder using no other folder.
If you do not see a folder labeled DATA, then copy the photo files you want to view directly to the device. Folders containing photos cannot be copied to the DATA folder.

Folder missing from SD card

Transfer the folder to your computer, along with any other pictures you want to save. To do this use a card reader, not the camera. Then click and drag the folder onto your desktop. After you will format the card using your camera (press menu then under the setup tab [yellow colored]) - this will delete all the pictures on your card so make sure they transfered onto your computer. Take a random picture on the camera to generate a new folder. If you want to put the pictures back onto the card so you can view them with the camera (not necessary), you should put the card back into the card reader, then open the dcim folder. you will see a folder which says Canon###, copy that name and make sure it matches the name of the folder you previously copied onto your desktop. click and drag the folder back onto the memory card to replace the existing folder in there (the random picture you took will be over written, so if you liked it transfer it first). That should have covered it...i know i made this very wordy, sorry, but i'm used to explaining these things to my parents who don't even know how to turn on their camera.

Memory stick

If you are using a PC to upload files onto your phone, here is the folder structure:

- "DCOM" folder, contains the photos that are taken by the camera of the phone.
- "MSSEMC" folder has a "Media Files" subfolder. You can organize your multimedia files here.
Access:
"audio" folder = Menu > File Manager > Sounds
"image" folder = Menu > File Manager > Pictures
"video" folder = Menu > File Manager > Videos
"theme" folder = Menu > File Manager > Themes
"other" folder = Menu > File Manager > Other
"webpage" folder = Menu > File Manager > Web pages
- Otherwise, if you create any folder in the Root directory of your memory card and put the files in it, the phone should recognise the types of files and you should be able to reach the files from:
Menu > File Manager > "Choose Media Type"

Hope this helps,
