Question about Computers & Internet

1 Answer

I have an Acer Aspire 5534. A problem occurs intermittently when it is connected to a data projector with the display set to EXTEND for a Powerpoint presentation. The connection occasionally is suddenly lost. It can be restored by pressing the Window key and the 'P' key together and resetting to EXTEND display. I would like to know why it flicks out in the first place.

Hi

This issue usually happens due to loose or faulty connector cable. Please check whether the cable is firmly fit in the port. Try using a different connector cable like S Video/VGA/HDMI.

This issue may happen when lap top is unattended for several minutes i.e. when it is idle. Turn off any screen saver option before connecting it with the projector. And also make sure that your laptop is not set to power saving mode as that will make it go into sleep mode quite often. Disable all the power saving features while using the projector.

Always set the laptop settings so that the resolution matches with the resolution of the projector.

Hope this resolves the issue, else post back for further assistance.

I notice that some users have had trouble with the Acer display. Perhaps if I upgrade to the latest driver it may also help?

Yeah, you can try updating your Laptop display drivers by downloading the latest drivers from this link----

Acer Aspire 5534 Display Drivers Download Link

However, that may or may not solve your issue. As, this is an intermittent issue usually the connector cables and/or sleep mode/power saving mode are responsible for that.

Please post back for any further assistance. If you are satisfied please do accept the solution.

What version of windows are you running? If you hit the Windows Key (typically between the ctrl and alt keys) + P you can cycle through the display modes. You may have it set to computer only, however Win Key + P will change the mode. Try setting ti to Duplicate, Extend, or Projector only.

My laptop changes resolution when connected to a projector.

This is normal behaviour when running the display "clone" mode, where the projector displays the same view as your laptop

To avoid the resolution change, go to display settings, and select "extend desktop" mode. This will allow different resolutions, and will run powerpoint presentations on the second screen

Have you pressed Fn+F5? It commands using external monitor/ projector. Try this:
1. Connect to projector with projector in ON position
2. Restart your PC
If it won't work:
1. Restart your PC, press F8 frequently, choose "enable vga mode"

Windows is problably exptending your desktop to the projector, like a dual montiro display. Try moving the mouse to the right, outside the laptop/computer screen and see if it appears on the projector.

If that's the case, go to advanced display properties and set the output to clone instead of extend desktop.
