Corrupt .rtf file in Word 2010

Hi,
We can also try to search for the Word backup file, in Word 2010, please do the following:

Start Word 2010.

Click the File menu, and then click Open.

Locate the folder in which you last saved the file.

In the Files of type list (All Word documents), click All Files. The backup file usually has the name "Backup of" followed by the name of the missing file.

Click the backup file, and then click Open.

You can also refer to this kb below to find the missing content of the document, it's written for the missing documents issue, you can also try the methods: http://www.filerepairforum.com/forum/archives/archives-aa/winrar/536-rar-is-3x-larger-than-its-content

After you have scanned the document as RTF, open microsoft word and Open the document you have saved as RTF.

It will be in editable format.

Let me know if you need any more help or find difficulty in scanning as Word file

I cannot use my ms word.i forgot my product key.

Try doing this please reply if it was any help.

First, open the document and do a "Save As..." specifying Rich Text Format (RTF). It'll end up being called something.rtf

Now open the RTF file by double-clicking on it. It should look identical to the original Word file.

Final step: save the RTF file with a new name as a Microsoft Word format document.

If this does'nt work please try a software which can help crack your password.

Converting formats

RTF, better known as Rich Text Format is a file format standard where, by default is opened with Microsoft Word. If the person that received your RTF documents opens them, they will open in Microsoft Word. If the recipient edits and saves them, they will still be saved in RTF. When they send those documents back, you will open them....and back and forth.

How can i open a password protected word file

First, open the document and do a "Save As..." specifying Rich Text Format (RTF). It'll end up being called something.rtf.
Now open the RTF file by double-clicking on it. It should look identical to the original Word file.
Final step: save the RTF file with a new name as a Microsoft Word format document.
That's all there is to it. You've sidestepped the read-only lock on the file your boss sent you and are good to go.
In terms of actually breaking the password on a file that has it set as the "open file" password, that's beyond the scope of what I'll write about here. But I will say that there are some Google searches that can probably help you track down plenty of tips on doing just that.

Here is a link to some software that will do it

Lost games and RTF capabilities

ok then camper... the solutions are pretty easy.

your games and windows messenger and your wordpad and probably notepad as well have gone because you inadvertently removed them when cleaning up the windows.

all you need to do is to put your windows installer disk into your cd drive, then go to the control panel - add/remove programs and go to the windows part.

then check the boxes of the components you want to put back and they will be back where they were before.

you may have to use the right click option 'open with' on the files that were .rtf before choose wordpad (it may also be called something like MFC application) and be sure you check the box to always open the file with that program. but if the extensions haven't changed, they should automatically go back to their native program, as it is a windows component.

i don't think the extension has actually changed (do you see the .rtf or .doc in your files?) probably just the icon.

i wouldn't add internet explorer or windows messenger when you re-install these little windows extras... just download the latest versions and install those... this way you avoid all the update rigamaroll.

please let me know if this works for you, or if you have any problems or questions about it.

best of luck!

Help with windows office word 2007

Dear febbos, if you've unintentionally locked your files you are most likely are required to give a password for that. In case you dont remember it you might try following:

First, open the document and do a "Save As..." specifying Rich Text Format (RTF). It'll end up being called something.rtf.

Now open the RTF file by double-clicking on it. It should look identical to the original Word file.

Final step: save the RTF file with a new name as a Microsoft Word format document

if that was helpful please press 'fixya'
