Question about Tecumseh Lawn Boy Push Mowers Insight Silver Powered Series - Sens - A - Speed Walk Behind Mower - 10685

Open Question

2 cycle lawn-boy self propelled 6.5 hp Gold Pro series Dura Force engine has a rpm surge problem---engine varies in speed up and down every second or so. Throttle setting has no effect on the problem but once in a while the engine will run steady and not oscillate rpms up and dowm. the linkage to the governor is operating. Which comes first the engine slows causing the governor to increase its speed or the governor senses too much wind and closes down the garburator? i am not sure but I think that I remember controling the action of the rod to the carburator with my finger and the engine rpm remained steady. my first thought was a fuel/carburator problem but now I am wondering about the watch like spring that controls the return tension of the governor linkage. thank you Bill Mortensen .

SOURCE: no spark

After seeing what you and other ASK type web sites charged to answer my question, i called the dealer he answered the question for me. i ordered the part online and repaired it myself.

My advise before you pay anyone to answer your question try calling a local repair center, i found they were willing to answer my questions without a CHARGE

SOURCE: engine will not start, no spark

Try taking of the engine shroud and cleaning the magnets on the fly wheel. Also clean the two little prongs that are really close to the fly wheel. Use fine sand paper or emery cloth. Then check the spark plug wire for rust (clean if any). Try replacing the spark plug if it is old.

Let me know if this helps.

2 cycle lawn-boy self propelled 6.5 hp Gold Pro Won't start

If you replaced the plug and still dont have any spark you probably need a new coil. If you do it yourself and find the coil on Ebay or a good onliine parts seller you could do it for a reasonable price.

Where is the egine model number located on a Lawn

Go to www.lawnboy.com and input the model number of the MOWER and probably any of the serial #'s if you don't have yours. More options and info will pop up and you may get your engine model info from there. I hear that the Duraforce engines are all the same model?

Maybe the engine is running with the fuel from the primer bulb (about few seconds), the carburator is not working and need to be removed checked and cleaned, the most common fail is a jet clogged.

Mower starts but boggs down and then dies

Sounds like the air filter media is full of muck.

You need to clean it.

Everything should then be fine....
