Most taps have either a flat head screwdriver or a allen key lock nut behind the hot and cold indicator

A faucet handle? In Automotive?
If you mean a sink faucet, what brand? Is it single lever? On some, it's not a hex; rather a narrow slotted screw.

How to replace hansgrohe M2 cartridge

First you will need to tighten the set screw all the way back in. The use your 4mm hex wrench to turn the screw 4 complete turns counter clockwise. Then remove your hex wrench and the handle should come off. There will be a dome shaped cover with blue and red indicator marks. This will simply pull off the cartridge nut. It is held on by o-ring tension only. Once removed you will see the large hex head of the cartridge retainer nut. Loosen this nut and the nut and cartridge will come out of the faucet. Don't be alarmed if your new cartridge is smaller than your old one. There has been a design change in the cartridge so it will fit smaller bodied faucets but will still replace the older thicker cartidge. If you need any further information feel free to give me a call at Hansgrohe. 1-800-334-0455. Press 2 for tech and ask for David Scarborough. I'd be glad to help.

Lav center set faucet handle removal model K10271

The handle may be secured with a set screw in the body of the handle that must be loosened before the handle will lift off the valve - the set screw will require an appropriately-sized hex (or "allen") wrench. If you cannot find a set screw on the handle, then the handle is friction fit - in which case no tools are required, just a bit of force to lift the handle off.

Hope this helps. Post a reply if you need further assistance.

Delta 476 faucet is leaking. I purchased the proper parts - RP4993 seats and springs and RP25 O-Rings for single handle faucet. Do we need any specific tools? Would you please be very...

Here is where to find the manual for your faucet. The only tools you should need are a pair of slip-joint pliars for the main ring and the hex key tool that came with the replacement parts. Remove the handle by loosening the hex screw on the underside. Make sure to turn off the water before you go any further and you will need to turn off both hot and cold.

Remove the dome-shaped cover either by hand or with some pliars.

Pull out the ball with the stem in it and underneath there will be two rubber washers with two springs underneath. Remove the washers and springs and put the new ones in. Put in the new stem (ball with stem) taking care to line up the slot in the side with the nub inside the base. Replace the round washer on top with the triangle hole in it and put the dome shaped cover back on.

Before turning the water on, use the back side of the hex-key tool to tighten the nylon ring that screws down into the dome shaped cover. Put the handle back on and try the faucet, if it moves too hard, loosen the nylon screw a bit, if too loose then tighten it. Once it "feels right" you can reattach the handle and turn the water back on.

I suggest turning on the water slowly and look for leaks. Not as difficult as it sounds.

I can't get the cap off the top of my Delta faucet loose in order to repair it. It's the older kind without the hex nut at the top, only the little ridges around the bottom edge. How can I get it loose,...

Delta makes wonderful faucets....HOWEVER.....this was a DUMB design. Channel locks won't work because the metal of the bonnet is SO thin that any squeeze deforms it and locks it up. Strap wrench will sometimes work. There is a specific Delta Bonnet Nut Wrench. Just a piece of plastic really, but it works when nothing else will.
Might be hard to find, but here's a possible source/picture:

If this tool doesn't work (though it usually does), the next step is careful hacksaw works and a new bonnet nut.

Good Luck.
