Question about Gaggia Syncrony Compact Digital Espresso Machine

1 Answer

I have a Gaggia Syncrony Digital which is about 7 or 8 years old. It has worked fine until a couple of weeks ago when the water came through cold. It did this a couple of times and when I turned it off/on it just sits with 'warming up' in the display. I can leave it for hours and turn on the steam/water and the water still comes through cold. When I turn the steam/water off it goes back to saying 'warming up'. The cup warmer doesn't get warm either. Any ideas?

Sounds like the warming element has burnt out, after all of these years, or the warming element is not getting current from the power supply inside the Gaggia Syncrony.

Either the electronic panel's power supply is burnt out, or the element finally burnt out with so much use.

There's a coil in there that could have broken, similar to an electric blanket's heating element, or an iron's heating element.

It is unfortunately probably out of warranty from the manufacturer.

So, if you cannot take it apart and look at the power supply and the heating element and test for continuity using a multimeter or a self powered test light, I think that you are out of luck on this one.

I would replace the unit with another if you like Espresso.

I did check their website but found it in Italian and I do not read Italian, unfortunately for me.

Thanks for the quick reply. I'm happy to take apart and test the power supply and coil tomorrow - not sure if I can get spares though, if one or other has gone faulty?
I'll let you know how I get on.

    OK, sounds good to me.

Make sure it's unplugged when you test for continuity.

And, make sure you undo the connections to the electronics before testing, if it is possible to do this without destroying the contacts.

    Good luck to you.

You must use the correct tablets for this, gaggia make special decalcifying tablets.
The machine must be cold when running the program.
It takes about an hour to run the solution through the machine.

We have a Gaggia Syncrony Logic that is just over two years old. After each brew cycle, the puck is successfully ejected but water and some grounds flow out under the drip tray instead of into it....

Hi
Check the drain behind the brew unit. There is a pocket below the injector that can plug up and cause water to drain under the drip tray. Check this first. Stick you finger in the pocket and see if there is water in it. If there is, the drain below and to the right is plugged and just needs to be cleaned.

Check the chamber under the white plastic valve behind the brew unit, it might be blocked with coffee.

I have a Gaggia Syncrony Compact Digital, almost 2 years old, recently the digital display has been fading and today once i turn the steamer off, it still steams at a slow pace and evenutally it stoped,...

The steam valve has been leaking on the inside for awhile, the steam condensed on the display board. You will have to replace the steam valve assembly and maybe the display board.

Gaggia syncrony Digital display says we need to decalcify? How do I do that?

Either purchase packets of De-scale or purchase citric acid. Take 1 tbs and mix in water until completely dissolved. Use cold water. Pour into filling chamber. Run through machine. Rinse with purified water until all is clear. NO after taste. Don't use tap water in these machines. Use a purified water. Coffee still tastes good, and no calcium buildup!

No steam pressure with little to no water/steam

Remove the steam wand and inside you will find a small teflon like tube at the top, throw that away and run water through the wand to make sure it is clear then re-assemble in machine and test.

Water is leaking, while the machine heats water for steaming

The steam valve tap rod needs to be replaced, or check machine if it has a plastic steam valve, Gaggia designed a new Stainless steel steam valve for the compact machine.

No steam when valve opened, spits out water in the beginning of frothing

There is a small teflon piece on the inside of the steam tube, you will have to disassemble the frother to get to it. Remove this piece. Reassemble and the wand should work fine.
