Welcome to Fixya
Sir/Madom,
RESET your Phone and Retry to Enter Base ID to Register your Phone.....This Can Fix your Problem..[See 4th step]
To register a handset to the base, follow these steps:
Step 1: Locate the 15-digit Base ID number by pressing, at the base: MENU, then press Down Button until DISPLAY BASE-ID is highlighted, then press OK.
Step 2: Carefully enter this number using the handset dialpad. If you make a mistake, press ‹ to backspace. When finished, press OK.
In a few moments, the handset will be assigned a number (1-8). This will be the lowest available number in the sequence not previously assigned to another system handset.

  1. Make sure the power cord is plugged into the base.
  2. Make sure the telephone line cord is plugged firmly into the telephone base and the telephone wall jack.
  3. Charge the battery(s) in the handset for 16 hours. For optimum daily performance, return the handset to its base or charger when not in use.
  4. Reset the telephone base by unplugging the power adaptor. Wait at least 15 seconds, then plug it back in. Allow at least one minute for the handset and base to reset.
Move the handset closer to the base. The operating range may vary with environmental conditions and time of use. There may be places within your environment that a cordless phone will not work well. If the problem only occurs in certain areas of your environment, you can conclude that there is nothing wrong with the phone. Consider trying a phone that operates on a different wireless frequency.Let me know if you need User guide for your Product[Please specify your Exact model number]

I put new batteries in my At&T cordless phones and I am getting a message on phone screen T23 PD

To register a handset to your telephone base
Make sure the handset battery is installed and charged properly. You have to enter a 15-digit telephone base ID to register the handset to the telephone base.

To find the telephone base ID and register the handset:

1. On the telephone base, press the MENU softkey when in idle mode to enter the feature menu. Press the or softkey to scroll to the DISPLAY BASE-ID menu, then press the OK softkey. The telephone base ID will be displayed.

2. On the handset, use the keypad buttons to enter the telephone base ID and press the OK softkey.
Press the softkey to move the cursor.

3. The handset will first display PLEASE WAIT!!, then T23 PD followed by SEARCHING FOR BASE. The screen will finally display HANDSET X when the registration is successful.
NOTES:

1. If the registration is not successful, the display will show NO BASE SUBSCRIPTION. Try the registration process again.

2. If an incorrect base ID is entered, the base ID will disappear and ENTER BASE ID will be displayed.

Tring to add a handset to a att 5840 base!

The process is called "Registering."

From another fixya post:

1. Make sure to charge the handset battery pack at least 12 hours.
2. Using the soft keys on the base located below the base screen, press MENU.
3. Use the up or down arrow keys to select DISPLAY BASE ID.
4. Press OK. The base screen will display the 15-digit Base ID
code for about 30 seconds, then the unit returns to the idle
screen. Write down the Base ID code on a piece of paper.
5. At the cordless handset, use the soft key to select NEW.
6. Enter the 15-digit Base ID code using the number keypad.
7. Use the soft key to select OK. The screen displays PLEASE
WAIT!.
8. After about 45 seconds, the screen displays FOUND BASE. If the handset displays BASE BUSY TRY LATER, the base is in
use.

I have an EP5962 system with 4 cordless phones. It is at a seasonal residence, and I just came here for the first time this season, and none of the handsets works. The base unit works. I charged for 24...

First thing you must do, is clear the base memory of the phones.

To deregister all handsets:
Select MENU on the base, scroll to SETUP BASE,
then select OK.
Scroll to DEREGISTER ALL and then select SET. Thebase will display DO YOU WANT TO DEREGISTER ALL HANDSETS?
Select YES. All handsets are deregistered and are unusable until each has been re-registered

During registration, you must enter the 15-digit ID number of the telephone base. To find this number, go to the base, select MENU, scroll down to DISPLAY BASE ID, then select OK

Can put in base id

Did you try this (from the i5801 manual) -

To register a handset to the base, follow these steps:

Step 1: If ENTER BASE ID is displayed on the handset, proceed to the next step; if not, press MENU on the handset, then press ▼ until REGISTER is highlighted; now press OK.

Step 2: Locate the 15-digit Base ID number by pressing, at the base: MENU, then press until DISPLAY BASE-ID is highlighted, then press OK.

Step 3: Carefully enter this number using the handset dialpad. If you make a mistake, press to backspace. When finished, press OK.

In a few moments, the handset will be assigned a number (1-6). This will be the lowest available number in the sequence not previously assigned to another system handset.

Step 4: Repeat the procedure for any other unregistered system handsets.

Reply back if you have success. The Base ID is not from the bottom of the base unit, but is something you get by following Step 2 above.

I need help: my cordless Phone has lost contact with the base.

Place the handset on the base station for 10 seconds or so and it should re connect it. But if not you can look for the Base ID # on a tag under the base and enter it manually when prompted.
