Coby 937 region code

Is there a way to convert region code 1 to region code 4 as I have a coby dvd player in a fifth wheel trailer that I imported to Australia that I cannot use.

Hello Johntyr,

Yeah, this DVD region coding thing is a real right pain. However, there are a lot of inexpensive "Regionless" DVD players out there. Just doing a google search should turn up quite a few sites that sell cheap regionless DVD players online. I reckon you should be able to find one at your local electronics store as well.

However, there is a software - DVD Unlocker that should be able to do this for you. Its not free… I think it costs about $9.95. But this seems to be the cheapest option and is guaranteed to work. Go ahead and give it a try. Hope this helps!

Should you have any further questions, please feel free to post them here.

P.S. Before you assign a rating, please make sure that the issue is resolved or you are satisfied. If not, please post back as to what you did, and/or any other questions you may have, and I will try to assist you as best I can. Please do not assign an ‘Inappropriate’ or ‘Thanks for trying’ rating if your issue is not resolved after the first response itself, as sometimes a bit of to and fro dialogue may be necessary before we can find a fix or an answer to your query.

    you can also try this

Open the tray then, using the remote control, just press 0000 and then press 9 to select multiregion. After the hack is applied it can play discs other than region 1. The unit already supports both the PAL and NTSC format.

Hi John

Simply take it to AV shop , they will quickly convert the area code for you. Ask them to open it to all regions - did it with my Panasonic and it's just so much easier not to worry about regional issues.

I think they charged me something like $3

I can't get my coby DVD 937 to play sound while watching tv. It works fine while playing a DVD or CD????

there should be an input line of just audio cable hookups (one red and one white) that you have to run and an output cable from your tv audio output of just red and white. make sure the tv says output or line out and the surround sound system says input or line in

I CAN NOT GET ALL 5 SPEAKERS TO WORK

I know this is not the answer that you want to hear, but: That television is not capable of delivering audio output to all 5 speakers - it is a stereo-only TV, which only delivers 2 channels.

Furthermore, that Coby DVD-937 only has Digital Audio outputs rather than inputs, which is very strange and complicates our problem immensely. You will get 5-channels with DVD or radio play, but getting 5 channels for TV is not possible without additional equipment.

The manual for the Coby mentions a "Digital Decoder Amplifier," which would work. You would connect a digital audio cable from the area marked "Coaxial" on the back of the Coby to a digital audio IN on the back of an external amplifier. You would connect the speakers to this amplifier, instead of directly to the back of the Coby. Then you would need a cable or satellite box with digital audio outs (fairly common nowadays) to another digital audio IN on the back of the amplifier. The cable or sat box you may have already, but you may need to purchase such a "Digital Decoder Amplifier" or other digital amplifier with appropriate speaker wires and 2 digital audio input slots (not to mention two digital audio cables). Fairly complex. Possibly expensive.
