Thank you for your help. I called Jenn-Aire and was advised that this model is on the Recall list.
The recall relates to the Thermostat.
I was told that the relay may catch fire and therefore
there is a safety issue related to this item.

Cut everything off for a few minutes then turn it back on and listen for a click from the compressor relay as the compressor tries to start.
Is the compressor motor running. If no check starter/overload relay. Check to see if the condenser fan at the back underneath near the compressor is running. If no check fan.

Are the condenser coils near there warm or room temp. should be warm

Is the evaporator fan in the freezer running. It blows cold air into the fridge side through a damper in the wall between the freezer and fridge. Make sure the damper is open.

Below the evaporator fan is the evaporator coils. Remove the back cover in the freezer to observe the frost pattern. Light frost everywhere(NORMAL) or a partial pattern of ice(LOW ON FREON) or nothing(LOW FREON OR COMPRESSOR PROBLEM).

Jenn air refrigerator jcd2389ges freezes fridge

Bea, try this. UNPLUG the refrigerator for 12 hours and keep the fridge and freezer doors open. You might lose some food. NOW you will find some water under the fridge. clean that and now power up the fridge. Make sure you hear the motor working. Your fridge will start cooling. Keep at recommended temp.

Jenn-air refrigerator not freezing or making ice

Before you go crazy just defrost the unit over night and then turn it back on. Possible e that the evaporator froze up due to the open door..Let it stabilize for at least a day and then check to see if all is copacetic.

Make sure coils on back of unit are clean and not touching wall. Are doors closing and sealing with magnetic strip fully? Has some one changed settings without you knowing?

First refrigerator stopped cooling, next freezer. Seemed like it was trying to defrost but their was lots of ice built up on coils. Jen-Air side by side, counter depth model number JCB2388ARB.

Causes of ice build up on coils:
Not enough freon (leak). Coil defrost heater not working (Coils on all freezers freeze up, but you should not notice). Coil defrost timer not working. Compressor thermostat not working (or end fell out of proper location).
:o).
