From what i have learned... (i have the same problem), is that it will beep for 2 reasons that i know of, water or oil. check your waterflow out of the motor, it should be ripping right out with good force. If not, your looking at a cooling problem. Check the impeller, its located in the lower unit of the motor, have you run the engine out of water? or even tuned the engine over quite a bit out of water? if so replace the impeller asap! If its not the cooling its an oil problem. In a lot of cases its an oil sensor, if so replace it fairly cheaply, or it could be that the injection system isnt working properly... this is an expensive fix the engine has to be completely broken down, what i did was just syphon the oil out of the reservoir, and mixed the oil into the fuel! If it comes down to it just mix it 50:1. that way you dont ruin your engine, as far as the beeping, it wont stop it unless its that stupid sensor, i guess just unplug it?

How do I remove the engine throttle controller from the panel on a 240 Sea Ray Boat?

Side mounted shift/throttles have a set screw holding the handle on. Coming from the bottom, close to the wall, there is usually a hole/notch. Insert the proper allen wrench and loosen or remove to be sure. The handle is on a spline shaft and should now come off. Wiggle, rock, argue. Once out of the way you can see the mounting screws and go from there. If a different style post picture.

I hanve a warning buzz in my quicksilver motor control in my boat

Many of those gave a short buzz to tell you they were working. It's when your running and they buzz you need to shut down immediatly and find out what is wrong (engine heat, no oil ??_)

Just bought boat & prop will not in gage all the time

put your motor on the garden hose after you remove the propeller (you don't want to step into a spinning blade). remove the cover and start the motor.

Have some one shift the motor (without engaging the throttle).. This will show you which cable is the shift cable.Disconnect the shifter, and while it's running, shift it full forward and full reverse to fin the halfway point. Next return the control box to neutral and adjust the connector. Start it up and see if the control box will shift the gear box as far as you did by hand. If not you need to take the control box apart and move the cable anchor so you get more movement. Get a repair book and take pictures as the guts of a control box can be VERY confusing.

Boat shakes when i give it more throttle

Sounds like you hit a rock and ruined the prop or the shaft is bent. Have had 2 cylinder motors shake when one cylinder drops out, you might want to check the motor to see if all cylinders and motor mounts are still good.

Moving the steering from aft to forward on a runabout

There are a couple of options. If you forgo the steering wheel I know that Johnson and others make a Tiller extender. I have been able to move up a seat in a 12 foot boat using this. On my motor the speed control was on the Tiller handle. Still had to jump back to use gear shift.

The oldstyle controls used 2 cables and pulleys to steer wheel. You will have a time to find short enough cables to do motor RPM and shifter. Then you will need to mount steering wheel to something to turn it.

There are Salvage yards for Boats just like there are for cars. Do an internet search for your area. Then pull your boat there and explain what you want to do. Look under Marine Salvage, Marine Salvage yards.

I have a 1982 Evinrude 35 hp motor. After running it at tops for about 5 minutes, I go to trolling mode and in about 5-10 minutes in overheats. Steam coming from the water outlet holes. This happened 3...

My smaller johnson had a pickup tube in the housing. With your alarm you only know when it is too hot. You do not know how close you are to setting the alarm at full throttle; it can be running hotter than it should then too. I would drop the lower unit, pull the sending unit and try to force water through the sending unit hole. This should backflush the head. Backflush the impeller housing too.
