Question about Washing Machines

1 Answer

Hello, Roper (Whirlpool) Washing Machine toploader: Model: RAS7133KQ0. Machine will no longer 'spin', agitate. Fills with water O.K. Checked drain hose, it drained into bucket O.K.. Power to Machine O.K. Suspect either bad "Gearcase assembly" pictured in basic instructions, or a bad 'drive belt'? Could not download any service manuals for this unit. Have not attempted to remove rear (large) cover as yet. In work searching for recipt, purchased at either Lowe's or a Sears. Thanks for any help with this, regards, Mark.

Yes, however, problem also involved a bad lid switch. Coupler was worn but not broken. Replaced both and machine runs great! The new couplers were beefer with metal inserts. Original coupler designed to fail? Annoying. Thanks again, Regards, Mark.

This washer does not use a drive belt. It uses a transitional coupling to transfer the motors power to the pump and transmission. The motor does double duty, it has the pump mounted on one side and the transmission on the other and it is reversing. One direction does the wash mode and the other direction does the pump and spin. The transmission feature a neutral pack which allows the pump to drain the water first. Then when the timer pauses for a moment the spin pawl gets slung outward under the main drive gear in the transmission where it will catch 1 of 3 spin bosses under the main drive gear. This causes the basket to spin. All of that is shown in the training manual I am including. So what can go wrong? I strongly suspect your coupling has failed.
A common problem with these washers. Very easy to repair.

My 5 year old Roper washing machine fills up, washes/agitates the cloths, drains them when the washer get to the rinse line to start the rinse cycle it stops, and all I hear is a humming. The machine will...

I'm not familiar with roper washing machines so I'll ask the question does it have two fill hoses. Most European machines now only have one fill. If it has two then it sound like the machine takes the initial water from the one fill and the rinse cycle water from another. The humming sounds like the valve for the other fill needs replacing. These are quite inexpensive and easy to fit. Power off.. remove lid ....switch of water...take out valve when you establish which one is affected and replace

Have a whirlpool roper washing machine, runs thru cycle perfect but will not spin...lid sesor or switch was no good so took out and direct wired does that switch have to be there to operate to spin

I have a Roper washing machine model # RA S7133KQ1. On all cyle it does not spin or drain but it does agitate. I checked the capacitor, timer and water pump. All is good there. What could be the problem? There is no agitate or spin solenoids in this unit. Could it be the motor coupling for the direct drive washer? Am I missing something else that could be wrong with it? Waiting to hear from the expert.
