Question about Asko 24 in. 1805 Built-in Dishwasher

1 Answer

My ASKO 1805 Dishwasher started to smell weird and white smoke came from it. I turned it off, but after I turned it on again it just keeps pumping water in and out, I can't get in contact with it (None of the indicator lights are working and it is not reacting to any commands) In addition the safety feauture that is supposed to stop all operation the moment the door is opened is no longer working. (i.e. even with the door open it is still pumping water) Does it sound like an expensive repair? (i.e. Am I better off with a new Dishwasher - this one is anyway a few years old)

I opened it and indeed the Control Board is totally "fried". I checked with a few appliance repair companies and none of them can get a control board for it (not even a used one)

So my solution will be to buy a new dishwasher.

Thanks a lot for your quick response earlier today.

Hello,

Welcome to FixYa. Based on your description ( specifically the white smoke and smell ) I would suspect the control board is faulty.

If the unit does not stop when the door is open can be related to a couple of things, i.e. stuck door switch plunger, overfill switch activated etc.

However, these faults are usually easy to identify and again based on the fact that none of the indicators are working I`d rule those both out quite quickly.

The control board for those is quite expensive, typically above $400. The original Asko part is #80 706 99-04, but many part`s vendors list it as "no longer available" (NLA) as new. That`s not to say you can`t get one, many places also offer "rebuilt" controls but one typically has to request this option.

If you think you could pull the panel apart to inspect it for burn pathways etc. on the board I would certainly try and assist you, but usually there is also a "cause" that damaged the control and it sure sounds like a expensive repair any way you look at it.

I would be one of a minority I think in saying these are great dishwashers, but typically they are doomed from day one due to improper installation and improper service by unqualified techs & "handymen".

If you decide to try to inspect or repair just remember please...

Asko 1805 model dishwasher. There is standing water in the bottom of the dishwasher, and although the power is on the machine will not turn on and begin a cycle.

First check the drain pump and/or drain hose. It may be clogged with something. Need to have the water removed first.

All the lights are flashing on Asko 1805 dishwasher

Hi, You need to absorb the water in the overflow basen of the Asko dishwasher's and then push and hold a button to reset the error code...flashing LED's or turn the power off momentarily. You need to remove the lower kick plate and get to the basin with a wet-dry vacuum or sponge etc. Good luck. Let me know if I can assist you further. Thanks for visiting fixya and if you found this solution helpful please rate it accordingly. Macmarkus :)

Asko 1805 DW Circulation pump NF. What is the most common cause / fix. Is it the motor, impeller, capassitor or control board?

The pump motor can easly be tested by 1) Physically looking at the pump motor in the pump out mode. The motor must spin freely. The motor has 2 push on electrical connections that must have AC voltage across them in pump out mode. If voltage is present and motor not spinning indicates the motor windings are open circuit. No voltage at the 2 terminals indicate that the electrical / electronic switch circuit is faulty. The impeller could be jammed from debris or pipe blocked.

Asko 1805 - inside light is on, none of the operation (front panel) lights turn on

Quite simple after all. If the main power button on the top left hand side of the door is pressed in (on). Whenever the door is openned their is a light in the DW which comes on like the fridge or oven.

Keeping the power button off turns the light off. For us this is good as we usually only close the door fully (catch catches) when we run the machine. This way we are not wasting electricity.
