SOURCE: I just bought an InStep® Joyrider Bicycle

The hitch part that fastens to your bike rear axle has 3 pieces, a dimpled washer which goes on first then the hitch plate and a pin that holds the trailer to the hitch. Take off the axle nut (15 mm wrench) install the dimpled washer it goes on with the 90 deg tang facing the bike wheel and in the channel so it can't rotate. Then put the hitch plate on, mine faced down for the correct height, line up the dimpled washer with the bumps on the hitch plate to locate it properly. reinstall the wheel nut and be sure to align the wheel so it runs straight and true (I oopsed on this the first time) then attach the trailer, it is a 90 deg hook-up then you simply put the the pin in and you are good to go. The unique hook-up makes it so smooth and dampened that you don't even know it's behind you. We really love ours!

I have an Instep Duo Cruiser and I am missing the piece that hooks up trailer to bike.

Hello,

First off you should check if there is a dealer close to you using this link:

http://www.instep.net/dealerlocator.html

Second, you can call their customer support line and have extra parts shipped:

Hope this works

I got my duo cruiser from my brother, and I dont think I have the piece it takes to hook it to the bike ???? HELP ??????

bigbrad70 - I too had the very same problem. If your Duo cruiser has the spring hitch (a short 1.5 to 2 inch long spring mounted horizontaly in the frame just behind where it connets to the bike) then this is an easy fix. There are three parts needed. First looks something like a figure 8 with one large and one small hole. The second is a latch pin that goes through the first. The third is a washer with some tabs on one side. If you have these things then you have all the parts if not call the InStep customer service line
(800) 242-6110
Monday - Friday, 8am to 5pm (Central Standard Time)

And ask for the SA074 coupler.

If you do not have the spring hitch I think they have adifferent coupler but am not sure as mine has the spring hitch. As for the istallation just go to the InStep website and look up the owners manual for any of the older double bike trailers.

Hope this helps!

P.s. The coupler is back ordered until approximately June 28 but can be pre ordered (I am currently waiting for mine!)
