Black screen comes up "windows did not start successfully...." choose from safe mode, safe mode with networking etc Last known Configuration or Start Windows Normally. Computer then tries to start windows, blue screen flashes up momentarily then computer restarts itself automatically. Continues over and over, will not load up

    I down loaded Avast Virus protection and did a full scan. Now Windows won't open normally, but I can open it in safe mode

You should opt Safe Mode:

  • On the black screen just navigate throug up and down arrow keys.
  • Goto Safe Mode and press enter.
  • It will boot your system in safe mode.
If the boot is success full:
  • try to remember any software or hardware you recently installed/change. Then remove/uninstall that software/hardware. Also remove some device driver like Video/Audio driver and make re-start. and try to normal boot. If success then install your audio/video.
If no success then I think its time to re-install your windows.

You didn't told us, what is the most recent updates you've done, i.e.: installing driver or software, or something like this.

Choose 'Last Known Good Configuration', if not worked, choose 'safe mode'

My laptop wont come on a screen keeps coming up asking to repair or start windows normally i have tried both without success


When was the last time you were able to use your computer?
Did you installed any software recently in your computer?
Try pressing F8 on startup and use the Last Known Good Configuration. May be that will help.

I had accidently turned of the power as my PC was loading up , so then when i turned it back up it has come up in a black screen saying:- We apologize for the inconvenience , but windows did not start...


Now that PC works in Safe mode i suggest you to run the Disk Check.

Step1: Double click on My computer and then right click on C drive.
Step2: Choose properties and then click on tools option.
Step3: Click on the Check Now tab listed under Error Checking.
Step4: Select both the options under "Check Disk Option" then click on start.
Step5: It will prompt you to restart your computer.
Step6: The Disk Check gets initiated as soon as you your computer starts rebooting.
Step7: Allow it to finish.

what i can suggest you is to reformat/do a recovery..nothing else....dont waste your time..because you cant load in windows right? its commin only with blue screen...when you select safemode or etc..nothing happen...try with my suggestion..if you have some important files you can do a backup by removing the hdd and put into usb adaptor and plug in any computer that can do a backup....i hope you appreciate it

Reboot into Safe Mode by repeatingly tapping on F8 while in process of rebooting and then select "last known good configuration". If that fails reboot again to safe mode and select safe mode with command prompt and in the command prompt type "chkdsk /f /r " <enter>

If that doesnt work do place your Windows CD into the Cd-Rom, reboot and select option "Repair"

Having problem with IMB thinkpad R31.


windows xp logo comes on-but then it has a blank screen. wont go in safe mode,etc.i do not have the disk to reboot.

Try to boot it to last known configuration.

Hello,
Did you try to do a F8 or F12 and safe mode start, or you can also start from last known good configuration too. Try that out and I hope it gets you up and running,
