Question about HP Pavilion s3000e (GC387AV) PC Desktop

1 Answer

Recently my PC has been showing quite a few issues, possibly do to heat. I own an HP Pavilion s3000 and use it for quite a few things, gaming mostly. (yes, I know it's not made for that.) I use the intergrated card and it runs games pretty well. but, lately I've been having several issues. such as last week, was playing Team Fortress 2 when out of nowhere the PC crashed and the monitor went into a series of blocky images. re-boot and the screen was stuck in permanent blue tint. and as of yesterday, same issue. does anyone have any idea as to what this may be? I believe I just have to clean it out, but, could it be something more serious?

My HP Pavilion screen is black when I try to boot it up. Nothing shows on the screen but the button lights stay on. I contacted HP and they said I would have to send it in for $398 and Im not doing that.

Based upon the price, it sounds like this may be a "DVxxxx" series notebook. Those notebooks had issues with Video Cards; that caused the problem. There is some theory out there that says by "re heating" the graphics chip; you can connect it back to the system board. Some cases it works and sometimes not.

If you hook the computer up to an external monitor; do you see anything? If you DO see something, it's probably an Inverter or LCD screen. If you see nothing; it's possible it's a video card problem. One other thing I ran into on HP laptop's is that bad ram will cause them not to power on. Take out one stick, and try it . Hope that helps you out. Here is an article that is related to the HP video issues.

Have hp pavilion ze5470us that powers on but only blinking cursor shows on screen. Was working fine just a few days ago. Nothing new has been added.Hdd tested ok. What else?

That blinking cursor is the way in which the BIOS is telling you that Windows is missing - its most critical, core files have been corrupted beyond repair. The only thing you can do is to reinstall using the recovery cd or your own Windows install disk.

Right sound card for HP pavilion s3000

When looking for a sound card it's really up to you what kind of sound card you want. As long as you have a PCI slot available on your CPU board you will be able to put in a sound card. I would recommend getting a creative soundcard they are the best that I know of.

Internet problem here(wireless)

Unfortunately, you're going to have to do some troubleshooting for this. Possible causes:
1. Errant programs running in the background(most likely)
2. Somebody else is sucking up the bandwidth
3. Someone installed a different wireless network driver on your computer and it doesn't work as well
4. You changed your encryption on your router and your machine seems to have an issue with it.

The first thing, I'd do if I had the laptop would be to run HijackThis! and see what programs are running in the background(or at least check the processes in the task manager). I might also log into the router and check to see if anyone else is connected. In the same vein, I'd probably log on with another PC and do some bandwidth checks is good for that.

Sorry I can't be more specific, but this could take quite a bit of time to figure out and difficult to explain in a text box.

Problem is related to HP tx1220us tablet PC. Since few days it is giving problem. After 30-40 minutes of working the screen get distorted, it starts showing different colors in the sides and blank from the...

You could try getting a fan for the laptop. I would recommend calling hp and getting an extended warranty (you can still do this even if your laptop is out of warrenty). I think this might be a problem with the motherboard. Lots of people have been having problems with there tx1220us over heating and burning parts up. the next step is your computer will quit booting which is where the warranty will kick in. it will save you about 150 to 250 dollars. Good luck.

Making a fairly confident presumption that your laptop is an AMD-based unit, model is....DV9205, DV9310, or DV9410

HP issued a service alert 07122001 covering such AMD-based laptops with your wifi failure, as well as additional failures within your product line. This is a warranty enhancement that will cover the replacement part and labor for you the customer.

HP has very recently started phasing out their older models like the 9005/9010, as the issue alert is basically good from 2yrs of date of purchase.

2 solutions for you....

1) Call HP and give them the serial/model info and inquire about that service alert # mentioned above, see if your laptop is still covered.

2) Replace the motherboard yourself and at your cost

(ok maybe another option)

3) Get a USB wifi card :/
