Sub woofer not turning on

Is it receiving power? If not that is your answer - could be a blown fuse, bad wire, bad connection, etc.

If power is there and it still does not work then the problem coud be with a bad sub woofer on/off switch, internal fuse, or worse, blown amp from over driving.

Controler and sub woofer no power

This previous diagnostic, isn't good, if you test and no continuity between the positive and negative terminals generally means a blown sub.

You won't always get scratching or distortion from a blown sub. Sometimes the voice coil just overheats and burns out like a fuse. In this case there will be no sound at all from the sub, because no power can flow through the voice coil. A continuity test between the positive and negative terminals will show no connection.

Hope this helps.

MY PIONEER WOOFERS DOESNT WORK

disconnect it from the amp and use a digital mutimeter and check the resistance, if it's a 4 ohm sub your reading should be close to that number, if the resistance number is below 1 ohm, your sub is probibly blown

Short in subwoofer wire - Altec Lansing computer speakers & sub

yes, you can splice the cables and put on a new connector, goto radio shack with the old connector and im sure they will have one you can splice right onto it. ive done this many times with varios equipment "headphones speakers etc" it may take a couple of tries to get the wiring right but if its just one speaker there will most likely be just 2 wires, if you wire it up and it doesnt quite sound right, wire it the other way. speakers will work wired backwards but wont sound quit right so if it doesnt, rewire it and it should. good luck and i hope this helps!

bad connection. try hooking up a different test speaker to your amp. if it works you can trace the short into your sub. if not the terminals in your amp may need to be re-soldered.

My speakers only work one at a time...

Check you have plugged them into the correct socket on the back of the PC ..

Chances are you have 3 sockets - first = 'front' (or pair), middle = 'back' (for 4+ speaker sets) and last = 'center & sub-woofer' ..

Sounds like you have plugged into the 'center & sub-woofer' socket :-)

Do you know if my woofer is blown?

well if you hear a rattle sound its probably already blown...and the amp could be drawing too much power if the radio shuts off...make sure all your wiring is correct. also if your car is off and you turn it up it will most likely shut off cause the battery cant handle it. but as for the sub i think its blown. good luck
