Try to connect the monitor into a different computer. If the monitor works on different computer, then the problem could be within the video or graphics card. It could have a problem or it could be loose only.

Open the CPU case of the problem computer and locate the video card. Pull it out and clean by removing the dust using a clean cloth. Wipe also the gold plates and connects to the video card slot. Then re-seat the video card to the slot.

If the same problem occur after cleaning the video card, try to uninstall and re-install the video card driver. If that did not help, try to insert the card into an available video slot (if there is), or might as well, install it in a different computer just to test the video card.

If you prove that the problem is the video card, get a new one that is compatible with your computer.

BUT if the monitor did not work on different computer...check the power cable and see also if there's a power light. If the power light is ON, but no display, try to adjust the brightness.

If the power light turns orange or blinking, then it's not getting a signal, you may need to change the cable, or the back light of the monitor could be busted. You may consult a pro regarding this problem.

Thank you and good luck!

I have checked all that have been suggested with the exception of connecting the monitor to a

different computer, however I did connect a different monitor to my computer and all systems work as

startup boot up etc. work perfectfully.

The black screen on startup problem still persists.

Hooking up another monitor to the computer works perfectly. I should mention that the mother board

is the Asus P5LD2-VM which carries an onboard graphics accelerator and is working perfectly with

    with another monitor.

No power to vx2235wm. How can I fix it?

Black screens or no pictures are usually caused by a failure in the back light power supply. Many times the monitor is working but with the back lights not turning on you can't see the display. Here is a link to a repair guide that will show you how to open the unit and what to look for and replace to rebuild the power supply and bring the unit back to life.

tricky!! oh hi im Dyanne.. a totally unresponsive black screen can be th result of failure of th LCD or LCD inverter.( a specialized piece of electronics that energize th screen) to rule out th failure of th video display adapter or circuitry, try plugging in an external monitor..a standard pc monitor.. attached direct to th lappy. if it works, (as i susopect) th motherboard and video display are both working ok and its th LCD which is at fault. this can sometimes be repaired by a competent specialist. good luck xx

Monitor is failing to start although power is on

Sounds like you've got some blown capacitors on the internal hardware of the monitor.

Unless you are a seasoned computer hardware expert or electrical engineer I'd recommend you replace the monitor.

The capacitors that are blown are likely controlling the power aspect of your monitor, and aren't totally defective yet.

Most computer shops would not be able to repair your issue, due to lack of skills related to monitor repair. So you're going to find replacement the easiest / cheapest solution.

Of course you can try to ride out the problem as long as you can. But it will get worse over time.

Laptop boots up intermittently or screen freezes

basing on the information you have given here are the possible solutions:
remove any external device connected to your system (printer, external hard drive and others) if removing this does not work and still gets a blank screen with blinking cursor try to go to safe mode with networking. if successful try to download the driver for your video adapter.

when you try to start the computer , do get anything on the screen like a logo? when does the blank screen occurs, is it during the turning ON of the computer or during the windows xp logo appears on the screen?

a blank screen could be caused by the following: defective video adapter, corrupted video driver, defective memory, unknown device causing the issue like the hard drive, optical drive or other peripheral installed inside the computer.

try also using an external monitor
