Question about Dishwashers

1 Answer

My fisher paykel DD603 fills with water at the start of the cycle and stops with the following error code and a beeping noise: - error U1 spanner symbol - crossed out faucet symbol. The water level is high enough that the spray arm is floating in the water. I am able to drain the water by entering the hardware diagnostics mode and running the motor in the drain direction. By removing the filter plate and examining the impellers I am not able to see visible damage. All filters are clean. The water pressure is normal. I opened the bottom draw and removed it from the rails and examined the flood switch sensor which appears to be dry. I cleaned and replaced all contacts in the flood switch. Is there anything else I can try? Thanks.

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. You are spot on as error U1 indicates that the dishwasher has twice tried to fill with the required amount of water however, on both the try correct level was not detected by the fill system. As you have already checked the water inlet valve and also cleaned the flood switch, then check the drain hose for any blockages. Also check the labyrinth plate which is a stainless gauze plate located at the bottom of your dishwasher. If still the issue is not resolved then the water inlet valve should be replaced as I said earlier this error means water pressure issue. Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.

Thanks

    Hi,
    See my comments inline:

Thanks for using FixYa. You are spot on as error U1 indicates that the dishwasher has twice tried to fill with the required amount of water however, on both the try correct level was not detected by the fill system.
    > The dishwasher fills with a sufficient quantity of water

As you have already checked the water inlet valve and also cleaned the flood switch, then check the drain hose for any blockages.
    > Drain hose is ok, since I am able to drain the dishwasher in the hardware diagnostics mode

Also check the labyrinth plate which is a stainless gauze plate located at the bottom of your dishwasher.
    > Is this the filter plate? If so, the filter is clean

If still the issue is not resolved then the water inlet valve should be replaced as I said earlier this error means water pressure issue.
    > If the water level is sufficient why will it be a water valve issue?

    Thanks.

Thanks for your reply. First thing I was just telling you what the error code means and yes if the water inlet valve is fine it should be replaced. Labyrinth plate is a stainless gauze plate located at the bottom of your dishwasher, dont think labyrinth means filter. If all of the above is fine then the flood switch should be replaced as its not telling the control that the water pressure is fine.

Dd603 stops mid cycle with no beeps or alarms

Please check if this happens with the short rinse cycle as well.
Also when the fast cycle stops, check if the water is cold at room temperature. Normally water temperature for wash cycles should be at leat 40deg C.

U1 Error and Washer Stops Working

Hi,

"U1 error code" means the unit has failed to prime with water within 3 minutes. Its taking longer than expected to fill with water. Check the fill valve,it might be due to water supply problem, or the spray arm might not be in the exact position place.Check the above to fix this error code.

Thank you !!

A failed inlet valve is not uncommon in F&P machines. The hot valve is different to the cold one, so don't exchange them. Not a big job for a tech to do in-laundry. Good luck....Nomess

F & P DD603 starts to wash then beeps & flashes U1 - Fill Fault. I have cleaned both drawers & replaced all parts correctly, still comes up with U1.

Have you checked whether you are getting the water supply to the dishwasher. Check if there is no kink in the water hose.

If no problem with water supply then check the water pressure rating is OK for the dishwasher.

Does it open the lid?... and does the display flash, as if paused?... if so, just clean the closed sensor lenses, top right hand corner of the drawer, and the little piece of plastic they shine into on the housing.

When it stops and beeps can you tell me all lights that are on when you open the drawer cheers. also check to see if the water in the tub is hot if not you have a heating issue. either a faulty element or Mtr Controller module. try swapping the Mtr Controller module (computer board) from the top drawer to the bottom drawer and see if that moves the fault. cheers
