Has the red rope been pulled ?? This releases the door from the operator.

If not you probably need a gear kit. Unplug the unit, Take off the cover and llok for white shavings inside. The shavings would indicate the gears are stripped.

Hope this helps

All garage door openers have a quick release. Have you checked to make sure that is locked in place? Most have a cord hangin from it and you pull it which releases it from the chain. Make sure that is engaged and it should work.

It could be the garage door motor that is acting up. Try closing it with the button in the garage. If that's not the case, you may need a different garage door opener.

Door stopped travel about 2/3 down, motor continued running but chain stopped moving?

Remove the cover and check your drive gear. It is a white nylon gear just in front of the motor. It will be obvious if it is stripped. The part number if 41A2817 and is available at any good door opener service company. It comes with instructions.

My Craftsman 1/2 HP Garage Door Opener stopped working. The motor is running but chain isn't moving. The actual door goes up and down fine.

Remove the cover and take a look. I'm sure you will find the drive gear is stripped. It is a white nylon gear just in front of the motor. You can buy one at any good door service company. The part number is 41A2817 and it comes with instructions.

Door starts and stops immediately i sprayed the tracks and it worked for about a week but now it's back to starting and stop[ng prematurely

With most garage door openers, you can look under the light bulb cover and you'll find two numbered knobs. These knobs set the motor torque/speed ratio. Basically, if the door is really smooth having the knob turned down will make the motor go faster. Turning the knob up will give the motor move "oomp" but it will move a little slower. One knob adjusts the power going up and the other knob adjusts the power going down. This basically depends on how good the springs are working on the door itself. So just adjust the knobs until the motor is running each direction "comfortably".

My door comes down part way and the motor keeps running.

Sounds like the gears might be out of the operator. If you can remove the cover see if there are white shavings in the cover. A Craftsman operator will take gear kit # 41C4220A
