You have a bad starting relay/and or the run capacitor, There is a relatively enxpensive part that replace all those parts and is better than the original. Its called a three in one. You will pull the parts attached to the compressor down to the two wires that are for 110 volts to power the compressor. The 3-1 kit comes with directions and on a whirlpool it is exactly upside down from the picture on the outside of package. The wires are colored to mak installation a snap they are very reliable, I've saved thousands of these good refigerators, and it will be on line immediatly like a new frigde but with this now being a more durable compressor cicuit. These are available at any appliance parts source just ask for the three in one for your compressor cicuit and it will be a normal stock item. It will cost about 20.00. Good luck!

It is quite possible that your compressor motor is loading up and using more amperage than is required. hence the trip happens on start up. Try to change the main capcitor to the motor and test. If your cooling is fine and the freezer is working in order then this would solve. if not the compressor is defective and will need a change. But you will have to weigh the cost of changing to a new model with energy saving and warranty. So check this out. Good day

After defrosting, the freezer will not start. - Whirlpool fridge.

I presume that you still have got electricity power and the fuse has not 'blown' - if not you could try putting in a new fuse in the plug, sometimes two problems can occur simultaneously.

Otherwise I would leave the door shut to keep the stuff as cold as possible, some may refreeze, or ask a neighbour, friend, or relative to let me have some space in their freezer.

Whirlpool fridge freezer keeps tripping our overload. Sometimes stays on for hours, sometimes minutes. Any ideas?

Pull fridge out and check the coils, clean them if necessary. Also, if the freezer is over filled the fridge will not get cold quickly, there needs to be room for air flow in the fridge for it to work correctly.

Fridge keeps tripping the circuit breaker

Unless there is a dedicated circuit of 20 amps to the refrigerator this will continue to happen When your refrigerator goes into defrost and other things like lights fans air conditioners are on the same circuit it will have no choice to not trip the breaker. Try this turn the breaker off and how may thing in your house stop working? You need a 20 AMP circuit or this will possibly damage the compressor or weaken the breaker because it has tripped so many time. Thanks, Please rate my solution, I have done this work for 30 years.
