Question about LG Galaxy Countertop Microwave Oven

Microwave doesnot heat anything

Hi there
i own a LG microwave for a long time now.almost 6 years or so.it also has the grill option and a combi mode too. my microwave suddenly stopped heating stuff from last couple of days. my usage has not gone up or down in anyway for years.i use for not more than 3 to 5 mins in a day on an average.sometimes just a min in a day. the light is on, when i switch on the microwave, it rotates asusual making the same heating sound like a fan or something, gives a beeper at the end of the cycle all that.only thing is when i open the door and remove the food or liquid its in the same temperature as i put it in.its not even a little hotter. there is no heating at all. what is the reason for this?? i take very good care of my stuff.so far never even repaced the bulb or the glass tray or anything and i use only microwaveable crokery. am little concerned and confused as to why this has happen. plzz give me a good solution why this could happen and how i can fix this. thanks....

6 years is a good run for a microwave to keep working
as it is basically a high frequency radio transmitter, take it in for a proper diagnosis and a quote
mostly after 6 years there may be a shortage of parts available for repair so keep in mind that it may be cheaper to junk it and get a later model

SOURCE: LG 1925 Microwave suddenly stopped cooking, other functions work fine!

What you said about the the clock leads me to suggest that you first unplug it for a few minutes then plug it back in. It may just need a good reset. If you don't have your owner's manual you can download one here: http://www.lge.com/support/manual.jsp The mention of odor concerns me. It may just be a bit of food or grease on the waveguide cover, which is a small sheet or panel on the wall or ceiling of the cooking cavity, but it may indicate the failure of a part in the high voltage section. You may have an intermittent door switch. You can see some of my other responses for info on how to get our important text file that helps you diagnose and repair door switches and gives important safety tips.

SOURCE: LG Microwave LMV1650st wont heat food

Hi eb6181,

If it's within warranty, I'd exercise that and get it fixed.

Usually, if it appears to run, but isn't heating, the magnetron has gone bad. It's not a cheap part, and not really a DIY (do-it-yourself) operation. If your warranty covers the part, that will help a lot.

Even if not within warranty, I'd have an authorized service center do the job. They should have a list of authorized outlets with your manual and other literature. They can also give you a quote as to how much it will cost - - only you can make that call.

I had a magnetron replaced once, it was spendy, but ~20 years ago, microwaves were a lot more expensive than they are now.

If I can be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it accordingly.

Thanks in-advance for using Fixya.com,

Jon

est the high voltage capacitor, the rectifier diode.or the magnetron. If all this are fine, test the control board.

Thediode and capacitors can br tested. The capacitor must bealloweddischarge before testing, or you risk to get electrocuted, evenifpower is off. Capacitors can get discharged by shorting theirtwocontacts.
Before replacing the magnetron test also the control board.
Replace the magnetron if the checks and all of the high voltage component tests are good, but the unit still does not heat.

All locations, and description of this parts can be located using the diagram here: Counter top.

Parts must be tested to find out what is wrong.

Remember that microwaves are potentially dangerous devices if not repaired properly, the job must be done by a competent person.
A microwave energy leakage test must always be performed when the oven is serviced for any reason.

Regarding parts, contact the seller here to purchase parts.

Sharp Covection Oven/Microwave stops after 1min on any setting

This 59-second stop failure is due to a problem in one of the damper-related components, most likely the switch, but it may also be the motor or the damper door.

The damper is a door inside that opens or closes depending on cooking mode. If the controller thinks that the door is not in the right position, it will shut down the cook cycle.

- loose connection at the magnetron
- problem or loose conneciton on the control unit circuit board
- bad magnetron or other high voltage part
