The processor fan is not functioning properly ,look for its RPM in CMOS settings and also the temp of the processor . This could give you an idea of whats happening.

Hello,
The Intel® Desktop Board D845GVAD2 supports a single Pentium® 4 processor with a system bus frequency of 400 MHz or 533 MHz, or a single Celeron® processor with a system bus frequency of 400 MHz.

So you can install upto 3.06 GHz 533 MHz(cache memory) processor and also update the ram 2 GB 400 mhz.
Dont install Prescott processor.
Hope it will help you.

to get the full performance out of 533 fsb, you need the next speed up from ddr400. since your ram cant run at 533mhz, it cuts the frequency down to 1/2 of 533, which is 266.

You would have to run the 533 FSB at times 5 or 6 to get 2.4GHZ.
And if you did you probably would not see any increase in speed
