One radio transmits the other does not

Connect a small 12volt lamp across the antenna output socket.
if the lamp glows when the transmit button is pushed the problem is in the aerial.
If the lamp does not glow the output transistor in the cb radio is blown and requires replacement by qualified person ..

The wire broke off my aerial and the transmit button was pressed with no proper aerial, mended the aerial, now I get an SWR reading on my meter of 1.2 but no power output reading and no reply's to calls !!...

it sounds like u fried your final.. Its only your driver/buffer transistor that's working right now..
if u can identify them usually large square transistors close to the aerial conn,
look for # on front of transistor buy replacement and replace . if your handy with the iron it should be a cake walk.

Hi, my name is John. Welcome to FixYa. Do not really matter, but Wilson makes a great magnet mount that perfect for the job. Not that expensive, just make sure you mount it where nothing is blocking it.....good luck and thanks for choosing FixYa...John

I have a cobra 29 ltd bluetoot. with builtin swr meter that reads 2.0 on channels,40,1 ,20 when testing is this low enough .what can i doo to get it lower

what type of aerial are you using? is the aerial near any metalwork ie fencing/metal sheeting etc if so move it away as you could be getting reflected power back into the aerial causing high swr, also 2.0 swr isnt too bad could be better but the swr meters built into cbs are not that acurate, I would use a dedicated in line swr meter (even a loan of one) and compare the readings, I take it all your electrical conections to the aerial are good? let me know and i will try and help, Thanks.

My swr is too high, was 1:1 WHEN I INSTALLED 2 WEEKS AGO

Something has changed in your system. Check all of your connections and grounds. Thats where I would start.

I installed a uniden 400sx with a 900mm high ground dependent aerial everything is connected i have power but when i transmit there is no transmission or response thanks.

Check the unit is not on a VOX setting (voice operated microphone). If it is usually the display will have in small digits vox displayed, and you need to take it out of this mode for normal operation. If this is ok it may be a fault with the unit, and so you would have to take it back to place of purchase for repair or replacement.
