SOURCE: Brother Sewing Machine model:CS8150 bobbin thread problems

The top of the machine is not threaded correctly. First raise the presserfot then rethread the machine. Bottom looping is usually caused by a lack of top tension. There could allso be a bur on the hook.

SOURCE: Shirring fabric?

When putting your shirring elastic on the bobbin, don't thread the elastic through the bobbin holder, adjust the stitch length longer, and loosen the tension, other wise if you want to put it through the bobbin holder you have to loosen the tension screw on the bobbin holder, and then you have to adjust it back for ordinary sewing,

How do I fix the thread tension on the bobbin side. The thread is looping

Adjusting the bobbin tension should be the last thing to try. Usually, if the machine is working properly, the upper tension should be the main form of tension adjustment. If the upper thread is looping under the fabric, the upper thread is too loose.

Back side of stitches are loose

increase the thread tension of the needle thread
this is an indication that the tension is not enough to pull the bobbin thread up tight

Tension is loose underside

Loops appear on the surface (top side) of the fabric?
Reduce the tension by turning the upper tension control dial to a lower number. If the loops still appear on the surface of the fabric after you adjust the upper tension, the bobbin thread may be too loose. In this case, turn the screw clockwise, being careful not to over-tighten the screw, approximately 30-45 degrees to increase bobbin tension. After you adjust the bobbin thread, adjust the upper thread to match the bobbin thread.
Make sure you reset before your next project.

also make sure the bobbin is inserted correctly into the bobbin
also make sure it bobbin is wound correctly, that it's not warp

Feed dog doesn't move material through, huge thread loops on under side of fabric. I put a new needle on machine, no luck there as far as the loops.

Check the tension of the feed foot. Some machines have an adjustable tension for the foot pressure. If this is not the case then re-check your thread tension setting. As well clean the bobbin area of loose threads and dirt. You can adjust the bobbin thread tension on the side of the bobbin holder(small screw). From the sounds of your dilemna the bobbin tension may be the culprit. The housing does come out with either 2 screws, or clips. Try that. Wayne

I get loops on top and/or bottom of fabric during sewing. I have tried to adjust upper thread tension without any success. On brother website it is said that it might be lower tension or incorrect bobbin...

Top tension back to 4 and leave the bobbin tension as is.

Make sure you have a new needle for the type of fabric being sewn installed with the flat side to the back of the machine. A bent needle can sometimes go unnoticed.

Always thread the machine with the presser foot up and this will give proper tension to the stitch.

Check the manual to be sure you are threading correctly (always with the presser foot up) and that the bobbin thread is feeding in the correct direction from the bobbin spool and through the guides.

Take hold of the thread at the needle as you lower and raise the needle to pull up the bobbin thread. Take both thread ends under the presser foot and to the back of the machine.

Looping thread bottom side of fabric

That means you have not routed the bobbin thread properly, or bobbin has not been filled properly. Could also mean your tension is incorrect.

I have a brother sewing machine but all the patterns come out with the bobbin thread showing

When you pull gently on the thread from the bobbin area, do you feel slight resistance? There should be resistance but it should not be tight. If the bobbin thread is in the bobbin case tension area properly and there is no resistance then you need to tighten the screw on the bobbin case to increase the tension on the thread. Do not tighten the top thread tension. To get to the bobbin tension screw on the case, some models require that you remove the needle plate and then the bobbin case. Some have a hole in the front housing that allows you to reach the screw without taking off the needle plate. Also make sure you're hooping the fabric tightly. When you snap the fabric when it's hooped, it should make a drum like sound. If the fabric is loose in the hoop, bad stitching will result
