Question about Philips Magnavox 60PP9701 60" Rear Projection Television
Magnavox 60p8241 i pulled an old projection tv from the garage. parents put it away cause when i turn it on it turns off after about 30 sec. then the power button flashes twice. i cant get it to stay on.HELP PLEASE
Double flashing means that the power source is overstressed - one of the main consumers is drawing much more power than the source is capable of delivering so it shuts down by itself to protect the rest of the tv.
Most likely on a tv of that age the problem lies in the horizontal deflection unit - start checking the components, the power transistor and the electrolytic capacitors first.
This requires at least a basic experience in electronics, if you don't have it, don't touch it, you can do more damage just by touching the wrong stuff. Call a repairman and ask for a quote.

Hi, I see this type of thing often, in my shop, a customer pulls a unit out of storage, after a while, and are stumped when it will not, "Go".Well, unfortunately, you see when a TV set, or any, electronic, device, is left without power going through it, it actually does it harm, things in storage should be powered up at least a few times a month, otherwise the Capacitors will loose their "Form" and will not work correctly, and if left too long the unit simply becomes unservicable, also the moisture in the atmosphere, gets absorbed by osmosis, into "Other" compnentry, and this too causes failures, not to mention, any other sort of corrosion, or perhaps flat cells in a unit, inductors etc. So as said, this makes a unit more or less unrepairable. without a large dollar outlay with no guarantee of success.
Above, is your service and repair manual.
