In most cases its simply the defrost element as with most defrost elements they can last from 6 months to 4 yrs but are the most common fault with regard to your problem. the defrost element is built into the back of the freezer compartment. behind the cycle fan there are two types glass elements as well as black bar elements if you know how do do a polarity test you can tell if there blown if not get a service tech in and start from there

good luck

Our GE Profile frig won't go into auto defrost mode

It is normal to build up frost at the Evaporator.
The Automatic-defrost-System removes the Ice 3 or 4 times, every 24 hours.(de-frosting).

1 The Fan MUST rotate , inside.
Is the Fan blowing Air inside,??
sometimes The door must be shut, then the fan-motor starts (,put your ear against the door when you close it and listen for the fan- noise,)

There may be an Automatic-Defrost fault:
Faulty :
Defrost-Timer, (electro-mecanical) ( DT ) c. fault.
Defrost-Heater,. ( DH ) common fault.
Defrost-Termination-Timer,. ( DTT)
(Over) Temperature-Fuse. ( TF )

If the Refrigerator has 'Electronic' controls,
a Computer controls the Automatic Defrosting.
A Temperature-Sensor replaces the DDT.
A Computer-controlled timer replaces the DT
----- A Sensor faulty?
-----Control Board (Computer) faulty. Common fault.

LG No Frost fridge freezer makes a layer of ice below the lower drawer of the freezer which I have to remove every 2nd day. Please advise what the problem can be. Thank you

Problem is related to either a blocked drain or a fault in the defrost circuit. The defrost circuit consists of a defrost heater and a defrost timer, which in some cases can be computer controlled.

Ice build up in Freezer on left side

Sounds like a defrost issue. this could be a bad defrost control, defrost heater or defrost thermostat. There may be a defrost thermistor that control the defrost control. You will have to research what your refrigerator has to see what could be causing the ice build up. I would start with the defrost control then the defrost thermostat. If your refrigerator has an electronic control then check to see if the thermistor is bad.

Where is the defrost timer / does my fridge even have one?

Most often the defrost thermostat fails there should be a diagram or small manual hidden under the kick panel or taped on the back of the refrigerator. I believe this model uses a computer to control all functions including defrost . There should be a way to run diagnostics on this to tell you your problem if you can find the hidden manual.

In your refrigerators case I believe the Click Here=> 10674902401 Kenmore Refrigerator Parts in that photo you may need to click to enlarge depending on what type computer you use. Item number 4 is=> 2304146 Control Board this is a defrost control board found behind the controls just above the top shelf inside your fresh food section and behind the controls. Many times you may find burn marks that indicate that the board is defective. Always disconnect power to refrigerator before working with electrical parts. This is the most likely cause for your refrigerator not defrosting but only the first thing of three parts to examine. Click here=> Here you will see item Whirlpool Bi Metal and Defrost Components Photo behind the rear panel of your freezer rear panel. The defrost Thermostat is=> 4387503 Defrost Thermostat and=> 2315531 Defrost Heater Assembly To make things simple begin by looking over the Defrost Control Board first. Ask me questions and I will help you should you have any questions, Thanks, Sea Breeze

My 2001 Sebring blows hot air except when I turn the control knob to defrost, then it blows cold air and the condenser fan kicks on . Chrysler has already replaced the evaporator core and that did not fix...

If the ac is turned on and it comes threw the defrost, then it is not the cooling fans, but check them to see that they are coming on,and they are turning fast, the control head is more likely the problem.

Whirpool bottom mount fridge not defrosting 2 years old

Inside back cover of fridge should be a schematic. If this not computer controlled, there is a defrost timer in there somewhere. It will have 120 V AC coming to it, on to the heating element then back to 120 VAC return. If fridge has a ice maker, it also controls the water valve, filling the tray. Frequently the defrost timer fails, could also be wiring or the heater, but this is unlikely

Kenmore Elite Bottom Freezer Mod. #795 75544401

The unit was built bt LG. It is a computer controled unit and the timer is built into the main control board on back of the unit. However, the most likely cause of the broblem is the defrost terminator located on the evap on the upper right hand corner. Also, try unpugging the unit it will reset the computer board. You will also have to defrost the unit.
