Question about LG 42LC7D-UB Television
When you supply power to the TV it automatically turns on (green LED flashes 2 times then goes solid green) and comes up with the last input selected.
The video and sound are working great at this point.
The problem is that the side buttons do not work at all nor does the remote.
When you push buttons on the remote, the green LED flashes as if reading the signal but nothing happens on the TV.
Nothing happens at all when side buttons are pushed.
Things I have tried:
I have tried cleaning the Remote input jack on the back.
I have replaced the IR Remote sensor board and cable to the MB with a brand new one.
I have tried disconnecting the board with the side keys on it and seeing if the remote would work. Same behavior with LED flashing as if getting signal but nothing on the TV.
Here is the kicker:
I have connected to the RS232 port with a laptop and I can make all the TV functions work properly including turning the set on and off, all inputs, everything.
If I turn the set off using the RS232 port and then remove power supply for 15 seconds or so, when I plug it back in the TV once again automatically powers up (even though I had it "powered down" or in standby as the last known state).
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

You can try troubleshooting the power supply section, which actually the only thing you can fix in these tv. check for leaking capacitors, bad semiconductors, such as diodes, transistors, which may be overheating and causing a short. troubleshooting electronic circuits is a pain unless you know a little about it. You may want to learn a bit about electronic first before you actually start taking parts out of a circuit.

SOURCE: LG 37LC7D remote doesn't work
Turns out there is a problem with certain LG models made in Mexico during May. Not only did the remote stop working, but the TV started shutting itself on and off randomly. Took it back and exchanged it for a Panasonic. Not putting up with that, LG.

The problem your describing can be contributed to your cable box. Depending on your cable company there are times when the box has trouble translating the signal to the tv. You tv is operating normally. Suggest to the cable company to switch your box.

Hi, sounds like a power supply problem, most likely needs capacitors replaced, costs about £5 to do it yourself, and a fortune in the repair shop, easy enough if your handy or know someone who is,its worth a try,it'll be going in the bin anyway, cam
