First of all we have to be sure the motherboard supports that hard disk and D945GCCR definitely supports 80GB (IDE).
As you have just formatted and installed OS on C drive the rests are unformatted. So please first format those drives by right clicking on D,E and F drive - choose quick format. Then you find all are ok.

N.B. If you add the capacities of all drives it will be less than 80 - please don't get confused - it is normal - you should multiply that with 1024x1024x1024 to get approx 80000000000 bytes.

Did you partition your hard drive into more than one partition? If so, then did you purposely partition your "C" drive to 17-20 GB? If it's only showing up 17 GB then the other partitions are not formatted yet, or they are formatted to a file format that Windows isn't capable of reading.

Hi,
Seems like your hard drive is malfunctioning, try another HD. That 80gb is already obsolete and the circuit board might have some defect.
If you could pull out the underside circuit and clean the gold contact points and try it again, if still not working...... buy a new one!
Check also the jumper and cable it must be in the "master" configuration.

Hope that helps you out!

Since it's an IDE hard disk, you'll have to setup disk jumpers, please check the following image:

We are unable to load window xp on hard disc, before we only find the 32 GB in 80 GB hard disk ... we successfully installed the window xp, but when jumper setting done in accurate place, it shows 80 GB,...

I think this model is still an IDE type. You set the 32GB limit then jump the settings to read the full capacity of the drive. If you are trying to load XP OS from a blank drive.

First prime the hard drive, you can do low level formatting and use third party software to partition and format the drive. on FAT32 partition you can only use 8GByte to make the drive bootable. Make it primary if I remembered it correctly and active. Or use the NTFS format.

You can use also if it have the manufacturers' hard drive utilities to check the hard drive integrity. I know they have it. It also equip with zero fill to renew chain and links of the drive. Then partition, format, primary and active. Then load your OS.

Check also your CD disc integrity, scratches do make a lot of troubles. And also your cdrom/dvdrom drive.

Reduced Hard Drive Capacity with Internal to External Kit

Problem can be tricky.. though i offer my two cents.

1. some BIOS have upper limit of hard disk capacity. check that out. try connecting IDE device to IDE connector in same comp and see if it is being detected properly.

2. seagate guys are true .. IDE to usb conversion can be tricky ... a lot depends on card convertor.

my advice would be if you have precious data on it ... first take a backup of it, if possible connecting the disk to nomal ide connector.

Drive got deleted

hi, you could either replace the hard drive for a larger one or invest in an external hard drive, these are really cheap at the moment and you can purchase a 1TB (1000gb roughly) for less than £80. i recommend ebuyer, fast delivery and value for money. (can i plug ebuyer?)

SP0812N HDD 80Gb

Hi,
this mainly depends on The Operating system, if your using Windows 2000 or above it should,nt be an issue.
sometimes there are limitations on 2 hard-drives sharing the same IDE channel on the mainboard.
Try putting the second hard-drive on the secondary motherboard slot, with it,s own individual cable.
If non of the above works, it,s possibly not formatting correctly.
you,ll need a program that zeros then formats the drive.
Hope this helps.
