Question about Sony Cameras

1 Answer

The Sony Cyber-shot acts as if the battery is dead. Purchased new battery this afternoon. The camera worked fine for about a hour. I was turning the power on and then off frequently taking pictures at Bible School. The camera would turn on and then after turning it off would not power back on.

This is a known issue with Cybershot that even when its power OFF it still drains battery life, and Sony is awarer of this problem so better take it to a service center near you and have it check since you already use a new set of battery for this unit.

Hello and thank you for using Fixya!

I would recommend purchasing a new rechargeable battery from your closest electronics store and making sure that it will turn on. Usually, when rechargeable batteries go down, they take at leat 24-48 hours to get a good recharge. If it is acting this way though, the best thing to do is go aheand and replace them so that the bad batteries will not cause further problems.

Hope this helps and positive feedback is appreciated!

Turns itself off every time I try to take a photo

I had a similar problem with my Cyber-shot S600. It just turned off every time I tried to take a photo. I bought a Sony recharger + batteries and it fixed the problem. Camera works fine and I'm impressed with the how long the batteries last between charges.

Sony cyber-shot DSC-S500

If you open the camera up, whick I know is an intricate task, and take the screen down but don't unplug it, at the right bottom their is something that resembles a watch battery, if you can figure out how to get it off and find a replacement it will be fixed... This battery serves a a sort of memory power, even though you have batteries, this battery keeps the memory for the camera's software, so inturn without it the camera is dead in the water. this is fixable!
