Re: monitor display is not visible
If you can see the screen, but it is very dark/feint, then you will need to have the inverter replaced.
Look for a local laptop shop in your area. They will be able to do the job quickly and easily. Price wise, it will vary from shop to shop, so call a few first.

Suggestion- on my toshiba fn-f5 switches display modes, but to remove display connectors, you may have messed up your keyboard ribbon cable connection. it probably has a small sliding lock to hold it in place- if the lock isn't tight, your keyboard may not be recognized, which could mess up your display. Also, make sure your battery is charged and/or your power supply to your laptop is connected. hope this helps!
There should be a display settings section on the graphics settings for the card in the laptop. Sometinmes these are from Intel, Nvidia, ATI, etc.. In this section you should see display1, display 2. Right click on the one opposite your LCD display and you should get an 'activate' option or use this monitor. If you are not getting these options please post your Video Adapter information.
Check screen brightness. On keyboard is normally activated by combined FN + Fx keys (F9 or F10). Check your keytops and/or your user manual. Using this feature you should be able to restore a standard contrast on your screen. If it isn't working the only alternative is external monitor.
