the racks are oriented properly, but just seem like they are 1/4 inch too narrow. has been this way from the beginning but was brought to our attention when we put a large turkey on it last thanksgiving....now even a medium weight object will make the racks fall

My Kenmore Elite oven is also just over a year old and none of the racks will stay on. Except on the lowest level, which is not that helpful. I have eight children and i cook and bake a LOT. Very disappointed. I've never heard of this happening.

I have a Maytag that done the same thing, Whirlpool Tech was sent to check the prob and he said the prob is common and that most appliances made in China or Mexico have a lower grade material and they dont have Quality control. The metal walls will shrink when hot and this causes the collapse of the walls. Whirlpool is aware of this prob but continue to sell . Mine was replaced by them, only after I told them that I would see them in court. They had no problem cashing my check, I should have no problem with what I bought. stay after the problem even if warranty runs out. its a Safety Factor and warranties dont run out.

Hello,

Before you conclude on this that the racks seems to be too narrow for the oven cavity, i would advice you pull out the racks and check if they are not bent, because when a heavy weight items are continuously put on them, they might slightly be bent due to the heavy weight of the items, if they are after you observe it, try to straighten them out with i light hammer, this will help put them back in position.

But if they are not, then, it means you will need to take the measurement on the oven cavity and get a replacement for them, this will save you much stress and put your mind at rest and help fix the problem once and for all.

Take care.

dont try to rig up something in your kitchen oven, its not safe and u will get hurt. call the company and it is prob a safety item, and they will help with it. you dont pay good money to have to work on it.

Wow. This is the first time I heard of a Kenmore Elite oven having this problem.

Are you sure that the oven racks are oriented correctly in the cavity?
If this is ok, then I would refer you to Sears.com to try to rectify this problem.

Measure the width with a measuring tape and compare that to the width of the rack.

Maybe someone goofed at Sears Kenmore in the manufacturing and design process.

Good luck on this.

It certainly sounds like a 'serious' problem that if escalated through Sears Kenmore's division, I think you would deserve a solution from them.

But, seeing that it may be out of warranty, that might be a problem.

If you cannot get a resolution through sears, you might try a local welding shop to weld on a piece of tubular metal to make it wider. It may not look original, but it won't slip down and hit the bottom of your oven's cavity.

    Hope this helps.

My LG oven racks are slipping and falling down. The oven cavity seems to have warped outward. Is there any way to make the oven usable?

-You mean the opening in width is too wide then
it suppose to and the rack keep falling down?
-If so then look for other rack instead its brand and must be
fit in the groove good. Or ask some one do wielding to wield another 3/16" diameter metal next to the 1 side of the rack, (Add on to make wider) so it can stay in the groove.

Good luck and enjoy

Oven racks

Hello bargarmar
Welcome

You said, Your Jen-Air stove's oven racks keep falling after the heats been on. This is scary and unsafe. Your gas range is only 2 years old.

This may be caused by the racks being left inside the range when using the self cleaning system. Which can cause the racks to become warped and or discolored.
If they are warped they may not sit even in the oven while baking and also move or change their shape
form the heat every time you use the warped racks in the oven.

If you leave the oven light on before you start the oven and watch the racks as they warm up with weight on them you will see if this is the case.
Then you will want to replace them.
Let me know what happens.
