SOURCE: sd card shows locked on

Blow out the card slot! It gets dirty and the card doesn't work! We just did it and it worked!

SOURCE: sd locking

I had this problem also. To solve the problem I blew into the slot where the card goes and it then read the card. If dirt gets into the port it causes the sd card to lock. You may have to use a pressurized can of eletronic spray to clean the port.

It worked for me.

SOURCE: Camera says SD Card is locked but card is open;

First I know you've said you've checked the card's slide switch, but just want to restate this first for others with the same problem who may not know of this switch.

Check to make sure that you didn't accidentally place the tiny locking slide switch on the side of your SD card in the "locked" downward position. The correct "unlocked" position should be slid up toward the direction of the connectors.

If you've tried this, and it's still showing locked, it's likely that the locking switch inside the camera's card slot is stuck. If you look inside the slot on the side of the slot where the SD card slide switch would be, you'll see a glint of gold color on the side. This is the camera's lock/unlock switch. The other glint's of gold that you may see at the far end of the slot are the reader's connectors (ignore those).

Somehow, the locking switch is making contact and has become stuck in the locked position. With a plastic toothpick, or other skinny NON-METALLIC item, tap against this switch to see if you can jar open the contact to its normal unlocked position. Also try blowing compressed air at it, as some gunk may have worked its way in there, jamming it closed. Occasionally, reinsert the SD card to see if the issue has been corrected.

If repeated tries fail, it may be time to consider opening the camera to force open this switch (not recommended unless you have some familiarity with electronics). In this case please see the following (xscrewdriver, hope you don't mind me referencing your blog):

When you say the cards aren't locked, I'm assuming that you've looked at the slide switch on the side of the card.

What does it mean when I insert SDHC card into Moultrie game camera and display reads CArd

if the camera has worked before with this card , then its telling you its got a problem reading the card now , this can be a simple thing as the write protect switch is "On" this needs to be off 4 it too work or in a worse case it could mean the card or camera port is damaged (water gets in mine)

if its never worked with this card before , then you might have an incompatible size card , as some cameras' can only take smaller cards (less than 3k)

Moultrie game camera

SD and SDHC cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the metal contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card.

I have a camera that carries a 1GB SD and when it is inserted in the camers the camera says the card is locked, but the switch on the side of the card shows it is not locked. what can I do?

Spray dry air or contact cleaner into card slot to remove any debris...work card in and out several times should have a push-push action...pushing in card should slightly spring back...push again card should pop out a little.
Sounds like latch that catches and holds card is broke or stuck...hope it's stuck!

When i put the memory card in it says card locked. what should i do?

Check the position of the "write protect" or "lock" tab on the SD card. Make sure it is (and remains) in the "unlocked" position when inserting into the camera. Some cards have flimsy lock tabs that do not require much effort to reposition. If you are not careful, the tab may be moved during the insertion & ejection process. You can ensure that the tab stays in place by putting a small amount of scotch tape - or a drop of super glue to hold it in place. Of course, if you go the glue method, it will be permanent.

Lastly, this camera supports SD cards up to 4 GB in capacity. That is, a 4 GB SD card - it does not mean a 4 GB SDHC card or any card greater than 4 GB. Make sure you've got the right card inserted.

I hope this helps!

Camera doesn't recognize the sd card, bypasses it

1) This camera accepts SD cards up to 4 GB in capacity. Most 4 GB SD cards however, are "SDHC" types (check the label to determine which type you are using). If you are using a 4 GB "SDHC" card, it may be causing the problem, as it is not an "SD" card. Furthermore, any card greater than 4 GB is not compatible with the camera. Any SD card with a capacity less than 4 GB should work without issue.

2) Check the position of the lock or "protect" tab on the side of a compatible SD card to be sure it is in the unlock position. The camera will be unable to write to a locked or protected card.

What does error code 00400 mean

Moultrie told me they could not fix the camera. I removed the Lexar 512 SD card and re-ran the test. The test passed and the camera worked. I replaced the Lexar SD card with a Cannon SD card and reran the test. The test passed and the camera works. I put the Lexar SD card and got a 00400 error message. Change SD cards. It fixed the problem for me.
