Question about Vacuums

1 Answer

I have a new Hoover Dual V steam vac that I bought from a neighbor who only used it once. I have only used it once since then and it worked great. This time, because I am pregnant, I bought some non-toxic cleaner that was much thicker than the very watery Hoover soap. This vac has a wash option and a rinse option. The rinse option works (sprays and sucks properly), but the wash cycle doesn't at all-neither soap nor water comes out. Nothing comes out, but it still sucks. I took everything off a dozen times, unscrewed everything I could, checked the wires to make sure that one hadn't come unplugged for the "Wash" option; everything looked good. I think what happened is that the soap clogged up the machine. I took off every part I could see and cleaned it until the soap was gone, replaced it with only water, and then the Hoover brand cleaner and nothing worked. I then tried the upholstery attachment and it sucked well but didn't spray any water or soap. I know it is clogged, but I can't for the life of me figure out how to get into the machine in the correct area to unclog it. Please help!

There's a powerful electric motor attached to a fan that sucks in air.Did you checked and cleaned that motor. If the dirt is got stuck up ion the motor then the motor will not spin as per its regular speed. For rinsing the motor spin on one cycle but for washing it spins on reverse side. Its a dual spin motor. If its getting blocked on other side then that particular function will not work. ------------------------ Empty the recovery tank of the Hoover SteamVac if the cleaner fails to pick up dirt. Once the tank is full, many Hoover models have an automatic shutoff that stops the cleaner. If this does not resolve the pickup issue, check the hoses of the machine and remove any blockages.----------
Examine the water tank if water does not dispense from the SteamVac. It could be empty and in need of a refill, or you may not have locked the dispenser firmly in place. The detergent tank should also be looked at and filled if empty.----------
Determine if the valve cap is clogged if detergent won't dispense from the Hoover cleaner. To remove clogs, unscrew the cap and then place it in hot water for at least 20 minutes. Once dry, screw the cap back in.-----
Clean the filter screen at the bottom of the vacuum cleaner if the brushes fail to rotate while in use. To access the filter screen, place the machine on its side and pull the tab at the base of the unit. Wipe off the debris with a clean cloth.------------
Thanks. keep updated for any more query.you can rate this solution and show your appreciation.

How do I get to the motor to check if it is clogged?
It is definitely not that the water tank is empty or anything like that. I checked the position of the water tank a dozen times.
I will check the motor if you can tell me how to get to it.
    Thank you!

I have a Hoover Steam Vac Dual Model # F7426-900. The nozzle and spring from the bottom of the soap dispenser popped out. Can this be fixed?

You will need a new valve assembly. ( part # 43513014, msrp $3.62 ) Place the rubber seal in first, then wet the valve and push it in with your thumb.

My Hoover steam vac dual v clean water and detergent tank leaks water before attached to the vac and during cleaning

This is a common problem with the earlier models which had a separate soap tank glued to the clean water tank. The plastic was too thin beneath the valve on the clean water side and would develop cracks. You most likely will need a new one piece tank. ( Part # 42272104)

Hoover steam vac dual v carpet cleaner has stopped dispensing soap. Water is still flowing fine

You probably have a solenoid valve which has failed and will not open. This will require replacement of the valve. For temporary use you can mix a soap solution and put it in the rinse tank. The correct mix is 5 ounces of Hoover shampoo to a gallon of hot water.

Using my hoover steam vac tonight and too much water coming out. once it's turned on, water and shampoo continuously come out underneath until tanks are empty. looks to be leaking from left side bottom as...

make sure that you have filled everthing properly and the hoover steam is in a good condition. or check else is there any loose coonections in the bottom of the hoover, which makes the tank empty.
if the problem persists take it to service.

My machine is a little more than a year old. I have used it about 5 times. It started leaking the third time I used it. The fourth time I took it out, the brushes would not spin (I did clean them and rinse them after use each time).
Now the engine screams and won't **** anything up. Do you have any suggestions? My last Hoover Steam Vac was great and lasted for 3 years! Hi,
I have a Hoover Dual V SteamVac F7425-900 that the brushes won't spin. The lint screen is clean & the brushes switch is in the on position.
It dispenses & sucks up the cleaning solution & water; just no brush action. Help

Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. The only thing that I can recommend is that you may have a bad switch, some vacs may have a broken belt or the drive mechanism inside the Hoover Dual V SteamVac F7425-900 in or by the brush assm section and is need of repair. Please check the trouble shooting section of the owner’s manual if you’re needing help and to save money. If you don’t have one then contact the Hoover factory cust serv. So, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions.
