The first solution, to reinstall all my programs was not acceptable since it is a system problem.

The reason the programs will not open is because C:\windows\system32\rundll32.exe application can not be found.

The first thing to do is see if you can find the missing application. Do a search from the start menu, open the advanced options and sellect the check boxes for system files and hidden files, type in "rundll32.exe", then hit "Enter" or click "OK"
If it's not found you'll need to do a repair reinstall of windows.
If you do find it, just copy it to "C:\Windows\System32".

Your solution of reinstalling windows was unacceptable.

I googled the problem and got a solution that was quick, easy and worked. He said , just set up a new user account. Go to each program and create a new desktop icon for the new account. Then delete the old user account. I did this and in 15 minutes I was all back to normal.

I beleive I should get my money back from 'fixya.com'. Neither solution provided were worth beans.

Thanks for asking but anytime you see an error message saying that C:\windows\system32\rundll32.exe application cannot be found this mean the application was remove from the computer by some means. C:\windows\system32\rundll32.exe mean C: is the hard drive, windows32 mean you are using a 32bit windows operating system rundll.exe tells you it cannot find the application.

    Hope this is really helpful

    Thank you.
