How do I get the drive mechanism to rotate after a power outage on my GE refrigerater?

The simplest technically is to disconnect power and let the ice maker thaw out completely - I'm guessing ice froze around the drive so it can't start turning, or water got into the bearings and literally froze them up.

If that doesn't work, you might have to clean out or replace the bearings.

Crushed ice makers have a tendency to freeze up the mechanism. So you might want to deinstall your ice maker and let it defrost for a day or two.

That would be where I started, but if that didn't fix the problem I would move on to the electronics/

try pulling out the ice bucket, remove all ice and look for signs of damage on the auger mechanism... most of the time the ice tends to clump up and that prevents the auger from moving freely.

Ice Maker

some part inside ice maker has broken. Attempt to pry off cover (or remove screws if necessary) and look for any part that has broken. I will guess the part is plastic. This same thing happened to my maker and I deduced that an item had fallen into the ice cube tray and prevented the arm from coming up, thereby allowing the tiny drive motor , coupled to a speed-reducing-torque-increasing mechanism to break a part of the maker. I actually used strong epoxy glue to fix it!
