Question about Northwestern Bell (36582-M2) Cordless Phone
Phone says Connecting and then Not Available. Not even a dial tone. I used the phone for a full day and it worked fine. But the next day this happens. This is a bell phone and the model # is 36587M
A 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

Do you actually have a 2nd line number wired at the jack you are connecting the phone to.Try phone 2 to prove this. If these requirements are met, make sure you have 4 conductor cord and it's plugged into the proper jack in the back of the phone that doesn't work.. Thank you. Jerry

SOURCE: handset does not work
Your handset is no longer communicating with your base. Depending on your model, the solutions can be a couple of different options. If I could view pdf files on this computer I would look it up for you. But here is the link to the manual on Unidens website- http://www.uniden.com/pdf/TRU8865-2om.pdf
Nonetheless, give this a try. Power down your base, and pull the battery out of your handset. Plug the battery back in the handset and set the bad handset in the base cradle, and then power up the base. Wait about 30 seconds, then give the phone a try. If it still does not work, then you need to try to "re-register" the bad handset back to the base. Look in the manual under "registration" procedures. Hope my help fixes it for you. Good Luck, CG

The problem is possibly the keypad on the phone. Try another phone , preferrably a standard corded phone. If you still cannot break the dial tone, then the problem is with the telephone line (phone company)

SOURCE: Dial Tone but won't call out.
Hi, I've just had this problem today and i resolved it. Does your phone have abit of noise in the background? Replace the master socket(main telephone socket) and it should be fine
