How do I remove bad sector from my SATA Hard disk? First, the problem started last week when I removed my usuall anti-virus and installed a newer version(together with the vault). I defragmented and ran a disk clean up and ran a full system scan and I rebooted the computer; it rebooted slower and some of my files were al of the place....Thought it was something to do with the Windows Files so I ran a full repair on the on the Operating System but it couldn't go past the 39minutes remaining for the installation to complete. If you need more information please post it so I'll bee happy to help..Please if someone can help? Help me.... Thanks inadvance

Thanks, already tried that and still it cant get past the particular bad sector.! When I ran the chkdsk /f /r in command mode and it still hasn't fixed the problem. I once heard about a tool called "hdd regenerator" it is said to fix bad sectors by regenrating the sectors itself! If you know any other utilities that can do the same or even do better....please let me know ASAP!

    THANKS.

try uninstalling a few unnecessary programs then click start run type cmd then type chkdsk/r/f which will scan for and attempt to fix any bad sectors and automatically fix any corrupt files on your hard drive this should schedule the task on restart then defragment your hard drive

My computer using Win XP SP2 and toshiba MK8025GAS hard disk (80GB) is not booting up due to virus problem. I remove the harddisk and used connected it using SATA/USB cable to my Win Vista laptop. I run...

If it were my computer, I would purchase a new 320GB disk-drive, and connect it. Then, I would re-install Windows onto this NEWER, BIGGER, FASTER, disk-drive, and then install free anti-virus software: http://www.microsoft.com/security_essentials and then use that SATA/USB cable to copy files/E-mail/music/contacts from the "old" disk-drive onto the new 'C:' drive.

It's like having the police returning your STOLEN car to you. You should:
* check for sugar in the gas-tank
* check for cut brake-lines
* check for lack of oil in engine, transmission, differential
* check for lack of antifreeze
* check for drugs hidden in the door-panels or trunk (or anywhere else)

You should *NOT* just assume that your car is OK, and drive it away!

Similarly, you can NEVER be sure that you have deleted 100% of the "damage" done by the computer-virus. So, a "fresh" install, from "trusted" media, is the "best practises" methodology.

Hi all! I have a 4 year old PC with 2 HD's , one is IDE and the other one which is newer is SATA. Once in while i get this boot error saying NTDLR is missing. What the computer does is resets the hard...

You question is not very clear. When you set the BIOS, you say it works well for several weeks. Does it change again automatically? If this is the case, replace the CMOS battery. (Usual battery model is CR2032).
If you have WinXP installed on both HDDs, set to view hidden and system files, and copy the NTLDR file from SATA disk to the IDE disk. If your NTLDR files goes missing from time to time, it is definitely a virus. Use a reputed AntiVirus software (I recommend Kaspersky).
If it is a boot virus, - first backup your files to CDs. - Remove partitions from both HDDs.
- Reset the BIOS. - Restart the computer and install OS. - Install a good VirusGuard.

Try to boot from your OS cd or recovery disc. Run the disk check software and see if your hard disk is mechanically ok or it crashed. If your hard disk is mechanically functional then run virus check on your hard disk. This will clean all the virus infections. And you will be alright hopefully.
If your hard disk's boot sector is damaged you may want to format the hard disk and place the boot sector in another portion of hard drive.

My computer HDD have bad sactors please help to remove this on

When a hard disk has bad sectors, these sectors can be fixed by running check disk. This is a temporary fix as the hard disk is nearly worn out and it will get more bad sectors and evenually the hard disk will fail completely.
Bad sectors occur when the magnetic oxide on the disk platters is worn out and data cannot be written or read from these sectors.
To run check disk click Start - My Computer - right click on C Drive and click on Properties - click on Tools tab - then Check Now in Error Checking
I suggest once this has been done, you back up your data and purchase a new hard disk ready to install Windows etc. when the hard disk fails completely. You may want to install a new hard drive before the old hard drive fails completely.

How do I remove the hard disk from a Samsung X05 laptop?

Go to Avaira.com and download there repair tool, put it on a disk
or a flash drive and run it in dos, thats before windows starts.

The tool will search for virus, rootkits, trojans.

Avira is the # 2 top anti-virus there is on planet, there tool is a free
download. If this is a virus, avaira will kill it, this will do nothing
if there are bad sectors on the hard drive and it won't boot.

No need to pull hdd.

Funey UST scandle.avi.exe virus

It's hard to remove that said virus because you cannot install or update your anti virus even in the said mode because the virus is close the program quickly or disable it. I fixed my costumer computer last week with the same problem. I remove the hard disk and installed to the other computer with updated anti virus installed (bitdefender internet security). I removed the virus then when i returned it to his original cpu i run the registry mechanical to fix the registry problem. MY customer is happy because he said his files and his computer working great now.
