Have virus

Get a good anti-virus application (I recommend the excellent and free AntiVir) and run a full system check. Remember to update the antivirus application with the latest virus definitions.
Also worth installing an anti malware application (I recommend Anti-Malware) and running a full system check as well.

My kid has a Satellite L305-S5918 computer .She tells me when you turn it on ,it goes to a blue screen and says to insert a driver recovery disc . Her and her fiance have been on Limewire downloading...

If there still need the data on there computer then you will need to try and recover it.
I would say just install a new copy of windows and start fresh.

How do i format my laptop sony ns-series completely because it got spyware virus in it and i want to format it completely. thanks

Hi,

The computer is supplied with a recovery partition in the hard drive. You can use the same to restore the computer back to factory settings. Please restart the computer and then press and hold F10 key to access the recovery partition. Once you access the same, please select "Restore C Drive" to perform a System Recovery.

As you have mentioned that the computer is infected by virus, there is a possibility that System Recover using the above method may not eradicate all the virus. In that situation a "Complete System Recovery" will be required. To perform a Complete System Recovery, you need the recovery discs. If you have created the recovery discs before, then you can use the same to perform a complete system recovery.

Else you can purchase the recovery discs from the below link:

https://servicesales.sel.sony.com/ecom/accessories/web/shoppingCart.do?operation=addToCart&itemId=679907&searchOperation=partSearch&searchText=Y8318687A

It is required to purchase the recovery discs only if the first step didn't resolve the issue. I'm providing the second options as additional information.

Hope this helps.

Thanks!!!!

After clearinf the Defence Virus my printer prints

Hi There,

In my experience with HP's (maybe more than I'd like :)), I've found that when you decide to remove and re-install an HP, the temp files from the first installation, no matter how long ago, stay within Windows and interefere with a frsh install. You can install a different HP or another brand and you won't be affected because those leave their own set of temp files.

So, even though a key file could have been removed in taking out the virus and the temp file removal solution may not help you, here's how to do it and it can't hurt to try.

Uninstall the 5550 from the Control Panel. Hold down the Windows Logo key on the keyboard and press the R key. A Run Command window will appear. Type in %TEMP% and hit the enter key. Your Temp File Folder will appear. Delete every file that Windows will allow (a few may remain because they are in use for normal Windows functions). Reboot your computer. Go to the Start Button>All Programs>Accessories>System Tools and run Disk Cleanup. Reboot your computer.

Now reinstal the 5550. If it doesn't run correctly after this, you'll know that the virus did damage within the small memory section of the printer and that's a problem I've personally never faced. Even if this is the case, at least you now know the proper and thorough way to re-install an HP Printer.

Good Luck

Got a virus from ip torrents I think. Computer just went blue screen flickered a lot like a strobe then went dead cant reboot past first line of dos and dont want to have to restore it if info is still...

If you have access to a second computer you can try installing the hard drive on it as a slave and then do a full virus scan. After this completes and hopefully removes all the virus's you might be able to put the drive back into the original computer and do a windows repair from the windows XP CD. If not then you would need to transfer the data off the old drive and reinstall windows from Scratch. I would recommend doing it that way if possible as it gives a better chance of not being reinfected by something on the drive.

hp software is premium ****. try a complete uninstall of hp software and drivers: check hp website in case a special cleanup tool is neccessary, then reinstall without hooking up your aio product until prompted by the installer (and make sure any anti-virus is temporarily disabled before you start) - this has fixed 90% of my hp issues...

Computer is infected with viruses

Blue screens as a result of infection mean the virus has corrupted the operating system. You can fix it by doing an operating system repair with your recovery or operating system disc. Depending on the virus, this may only be a temporary fix. If this turns out to be a temporary fix, then the sure way to fix it is to completely wipe the hard drive, completely reformat using NTFS, and reload the operating system, which I would recommend. If you have any problems during or after the reload, then the virus damaged the hard drive and it will need to be replaced.
