I am having trouble with my sound/speakers too. One person thinks it is a problem with corrupt sound files (like the startup music). This model has a history of overheating, and I am wondering if this intermittent sound problem could be the reesult of a bad connection to the speakers.

And if so, who would you trust to fix it?

Plug the speakers into your iPod. Any sound?
You may need to maximize the volume-control on the iPod *AND* on your speakers, but you should hear some sound, if the speakers are working.

Try a different set of speakers on your computer.

Make sure that you have not "muted" nor "minimized" the sound on your computer.

Make sure that the speakers are plugged-in to the "green" socket on your computer.

Speaker Problem

Nothing is wrong. Most computers automatically turn off the internal seakers after the external seakers are connected. Go to cntrol pannel and see what you can do under audio options or some such equivelent. Check back with more problems,
hope this helped/helps.
