I understand this is a problem problem with the scan of the screen. It is usually called "mal discharge" or "pixel misfiring". The pixels light up when they shouldn't. The best way to troubleshoot this when it works after warming up for a minute is with freeze spray. But how often would I need to spray the Freeze spray? Do I need to unscrew the back panel? Which area should I be spraying this?Is this a temporary fix? I would like a long term solution. Thank you

When you are having a problem like that this is the repair strategy. Check these parts in this order. 1. LCD Control Unit
2. AV/Terminal Unit
3. Main Unit
4. LCD Panel (I really hope it is not the panel)

Check for damaged LVDS cable
Check all INPUTS for video
Check LCD Test Patterns in Service Mode; confirm video is ok on test patterns
Perform the appropriate factory resets

This is a problem with the scan of the screen. It is usually called "mal discharge" or "pixel misfiring". The pixels light up when they shouldn't. The best way to troubleshoot this when it works after warming up for a minute is with freeze spray. You can buy this at a tech supply retailer online like www.jameco.com or similar website. The method is to turn it on with the back off, spray the boards one at a time, and see which one is causing the issue when it gets hot. Typically it would be the logic board in my experience.. if you can check it with a volt meter this can help too.. let me know how you want to proceed.. a repair at a service center would run you about $250-400. Let me know, thanks

The freeze spray method is purely for diagnosis, the TV is broken and needs some part replaced. You will have to fully disassemble the TV to do the free spray diagnosis, but it is the way a technician will narrow down your issue. That or checking the voltages to see if one goes high or low, etc... but usually it would be the logic board.

My Philips Plamsa won't turn on, has a black screen but the power light is on. There is also a constant clicking noise. Any ideas of what this might be. The tv is a couple of years old.

The picture is White or Black:

1. Adjust picture setting such as brightness or contrast

2. Check the color settings

3. Check to ensure you cable connections are connected properly.

New tv

You can go into the menu and adjust the picture setting. If that does not fix the iss and the set is under a year old then it will still be in warranty. Contact Philips at 1-88- 744-5477 and have them do the repairs under warranty. Don't do it your self because that will void your warranty.
