HI. First, you will need to rule out any standard issues that will cause this. Check the internal, and external feed lines for any obstructions. Make sure that the internal lines are not frozen, or kinked. If the lines check out ok, move on to the water filter(if equipped).

In most units, there will be a filter, present. These devices are set to operate on a particular time frame. If their filtering limit is met, the filter will stop filtering water, thus, not allowing the fluid to flow, at all. Make sure that the filter is up to date. If you have verified that the filter is ok, move on to the water inlet valve assembly.

The water inlet valve is located behind your refrigerator. Find the water supply line coming into the valve and turn it off at the source (typically under the sink). Disconnect the supply line. Remove the screws that secure the inlet valve in place.

The water inlet valve is connected by two wires. Label the wire placement on the water inlet valve before disconnecting the wires. The wires are connected to the terminals with slip on connectors

Firmly pull the connectors off of the terminals (do not pull on the wire). You may need to use a pair of needle-nose pliers to remove the connectors. Inspect the connectors and the terminals for corrosion. If the connectors are corroded they should be replaced.

Inspect the filter screen where the supply line connects. Remove any debris or deposits that may have built up using a toothbrush, or warm running water. If you cannot clear the clog, it will be necessary to replace the valve (the filter is not removable on most inlet valves).

Test the water inlet valve for continuity using a multimeter. Set the multimeter to the ohms setting X100 (if available, otherwise use the nearest ohm setting). Place a probe on each terminal. The multimeter should display a reading of 200 to 500 ohms. Close inspection of the inlet valve and especially the coil may reveal the exact ohm resistance rating to test for. If the water inlet valve does not pass this test, it should be replaced.

OKay, you will need to test the inlet assembly as stated above. Im sure the inlet has failed. Test to confirm. The assembly serves both the ice maker and dispenser. One side can work perfectly and the other side can fail.

    Michael Masters Jul 13, 2010

The reason for testing will be to isolate the culprit. There is another area of concern, and it is the dispenser control board. If the inlet valve assembly proves to be functional and passes its respective test, this will isolate the dispenser board as the lone culprit. This board is mounted just behind your dispenser facade. You will need to replace the dispenser control board if the water inlet valve passes the above test and inspection.

Additionally, there is a problem with the model number you has posted. Please make sure that you have posted the correct model number and be sure it is complete with all letters and numbers.

Thank you. I will check the inlet and let you know.

The correct model # is ASD2624HES. Sorry.
There is a plastic mount that clips into the back
of the refrigerator and hold a tube with a male connector
that attaches to the water line. There is a small blue object
at the base of a second tube.
It probably is the panel as it was left running for such
    a long time.

Thanks for the model number correction. I have the necessary part number and diagrams to share. Click here to access a exploded diagram. I will list the legend below:

13 - Water Valve Concealment Cover
14 - Water inlet valve assembly
21 - Inlet Water Line Clip

Focus in on this area of the unit. You will need to remove the concealment cover(on the lower rear left section) to expose the valve for testing. The valve is mounted on the bracket behind the cover.

NOTE_ If there are no lights on the dispenser and they are not working or illuminated, this will be a strong indication of board failure at the dispenser section. If the buttons do not respond, the board has failed. You should here a click from the rear at the valve section if the dispenser board is functional. If you hear a click but no water, the valve should be tested.

This is essentially what the valve assembly will look like:

  • pambsand Jul 13, 2010

Thanks. The lights are working on the board.
The ice dispensers work just not the water.
I will check the intake valve now that I know where
    it is.

What is the best way to disconnect the tubes?

  • Michael Masters
    Michael Masters Jul 13, 2010

In order to remove correctly, you will need to depress the ring the tube slides into. this action will release the lines.

  • Michael Masters
    Michael Masters Jul 13, 2010

There may be a clamp as well on the outer section of the tube hole.

  • Michael Masters
    Michael Masters Aug 26, 2010

Hi. The easiest way to do this is to trace each tube from its respective location. Follow the ice maker tube from the ice maker all the way to the valve assembly. Once you have traced the ice maker tube, connecting the remaining tube will be easy, due to the fact that, it will be the only tub left.

  • Michael Masters
    Michael Masters Aug 26, 2010

The tubes both supply cold water to the dispenser and ice- maker valve, so it doesn't matter how you connect them to the valve. Each tube can be connected to either opening on the valve.

I have an Amana side by side refrigerator model ASD2522WRB06. I replaced the filter that is located in the grill at the bottom of the fridge. Now water does not flow at all.

It should work with the filter removed because of a automatic bypass built into Amana refrigerators but sometimes even new filters or copy cat filters will not work at all because they have a defective area where they connect to your water system.

We never received a manual and now need to replace the water filter. model no. ASD2522WRW03 - ser. no. S01831393. also how do we order a replacement manual

The direct link to the manual from Amana is . If the direct link doesn't work, start here: . The manual is also available at Manage My Life: .

The filter you need is T2RFWG2 and P2RFWG2 (part number 4396841) . The filter is in the base grill on the freezer side of the side by side. There is a cap over the filter. You need to push the release button on the cap to remove the cap and filter. Save the cap and put it on the new filter before replacing the filter. If you replace the cap, you can use the water and ice dispenser without the filter.

If you want a printed copy of the manual, you can order it from Sears Parts Direct. They also have the filter. See . The manual is part 1 ($5.99) and the filter is part 30 ($54.98). The filter is also available from for $37. Amana sells the filter here: for $40. If you go here: , you can order several filters at once.

I hope this helps.

Amana model# SZD23VE refrigerator were is the water filter? or does it even have a water filter?

Yes it has a water filter option. The water filter housing is in the refrigerator near the top of the unit. You need to twist the old filter itself to the left to remove. (You will be removing a cover that you need to take off the old filter and put on the new filter. This cover can also be replaced without a filter to bypass the filter. The part number for the filter is AP4310541, .

I hope this helps.

Where is the water filter on the amana #scd25tw

The Amana with model number SCD25TW does not have a water filter. You would have to install an in-line filter on the water supply line if you want to filter the water. If your talking about the model number ARS266ZBS, then open the refrigerator door and look at the top right hand side. You should see a filter housing with a tab to release. Once released you have to remove the filter from the housing to replace it. When finished be sure to run about a gallon through the dispenser, to flush any air out of the system.

Removing a water filter from the base grill of your Amana brand refrigerator:

Removing and replacing a water filter - base grill location

Filters situated in the base grill (below the freezer compartment) of Whirlpool-built side-by-side refrigerators are relatively simple to replace. Follow these two steps:
  1. Grasp the filter's end and make a one-quarter turn to the left.
  2. Pull the filter straight out.
To replace with a new filter, repeat these two steps in the opposite order, making sure to first remove the red cap from the filter. Proceed by pushing the filter straight into the slot, and then giving it a one quarter turn to the right.
Note: Replacing this type of filter is quick - there is no need to unplug your refrigerator when replacing it. Also, this filter should be replaced every six months.

Kenmore refrigerator-model#59582998 serial#514037483 I would like to operate my refrigerator without a filter due to the taste of the water by using filters. Is it permissable to remove the filter and not...

I would suggest , home depot , or , a hardware store , which supplys a filter , with replaceable cartridges . Usually runs about $ 50.00 . This filter , will mount to the wall , and not the appliance itself . If you " bypass " the filter , it may stop the dispensor flow , and / or , the ice maker water flow .
With the new filter , you can use , calcium filter , charcoal filter , or calcium filter replacements . Even lime , I believe , is available .
As far as removing the filter , I suggest , trying , to see if the water / ice maker still works , after removing .

I cant get my refrigerator unlocked

Hi: I don't know if you have the manual, but you have to hold down the lock button down for several seconds to release it. That how it works. I hope this helps and you don't need service. As a last resort unplug the fridge for an hour ( don't open it in the interim) then plug it back in and see if it resets. I hope this helps, Jeff

Everything freezes in the refrigerator

Your damper that controls the air to the fridge side is stuck open. It can be caused by moisture getting on it and freezing it so it wont close or by a failure in the electrical circuit that controls it. There was a service bulletin from about 3-4 years ago about defective control assemblys. I have replaced several and as far as I know Frigidaire is still replacing some of them for free if they fall under the model and serial numbers that were affected.
You can tell if it is frozen by turning the controls off and thawing the damper at the upper left rear of the fridge section with a hair dryer.. After you have it thawed out, turn the controls back on and you should hear the damper door motor running. Keep your thermometer in it and check it after a while and see if it shuts off before it freezes.
Post back with the complete model and serial numbers and I will try to locate the service bulletin at my shop computer tomorrow.

Amana fridge water filter squealing

I would suggest that you put the new water filter back in and try dispensing water for about ten minutes. If there is still a high pitched noise then you could try bleeding the water line at different points along the water circuit (with control over the incoming supply). The fact that you are forcing water through the tank should normally resolve any air locks. The water filter could also be bled of air. Hope this is of some help.
