Question about Samsung SyncMaster 740N 17" LCD Monitor

1 Answer

Our Syncmaster 740BX does not turn on the picture and the power button continues blinking until heated with a hair dryer or after a very long time. A bad solder joint?

That sounds more like bad caps with high ESR, the ESR will go down when the cap is heated, this is one of the tool I used to locate bad caps.

Lite in the front of the TV when you turn on keeps blinking and no picture.

The blinking is giving you an error. Even thou you say your TV is working fine, there is something wrong. It could be anything from the convergence(like Color problems slightly out of line) or Sound problems, or you may have problems just in the power supply. Could you remember the set acting funny like in the past? If so do you remember what went wrong or what gliched? This could tell you what is going on now. If none of this it could be a capacitor in the Power supply.

It sounds like the CPU is over heating. It probably has poor ventilation. Unplug the unit and open the side panel. Carefully vacuum all the dust inside. Be careful not to damage any electronics. You can use a small brush to loosen the dust before vacuuming. Good luck!

Power light blinks

I found a solution, Heat. When the set is on and heats up it stays on, but once off for the night it gets cold and can't start, try using a hair dryer on full blast and put the heat around the back top vent like structure and wait for the light to stop blinking, this only takes about 2 min or so
